I vainly hoped that there would have been some "up to date" communication about the outage the last one was dated the 5th so I looked at the seti site and look what I found:- Weekly Outage Notice Every Wednesday we have a short outage to back up our database. The data servers and most web pages are offline during this time. The outage lasts 2-3 hours, and then there is a long period of "catch up" afterwards as the servers are swamped with backlogged requests Are we still suffering from last wednesdays outage ? Come on please seti team if you don't communicate to people on earth sensibly how do you hope to talk to other planets. What's happening ? If you really are struggling don't just stick lame messages about weekly backups. Hi Nicol, it seems people overlooked your concerns. Every Wednesday, they post that message and do a back up. It's a scheduled operation and has nothing to do with the ul/dl server slow down. By taking the back end services down they are actually supposed to be speeding up the ul/dl process, AND getting the master science database merge done at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone you might say. THe merge was scheduled for the 15th of November, but software incompatibility or something stopped it. tony ID: 206065 ·

Just trying to make some sense of all these messages. Thanks The 500 error actually comes from the Apache Server. You would see it where you may be seeing System I/O error. While you may see a 500 error, most the issues we are having now is the servers ability to handle the sheer number of Classic folks that have moved over. From the PCs in my set up I have noticed no improvements in upload results. The numbers of completed units "ready to report", on the local hosts, has gone up by approximately last nights/this morning's output. Downloads are up to the normal expectations.
