And the SpaceX Falcon 9 is in flight heading to the ISS up in orbit about the Earth, there's a story on CNN Here. There are some videos on this at CNN.

The cargo manifest for the trip includes 674 pounds of food, clothing and miscellaneous supplies, 46 pounds of supplies for use in science experiments, 271 pounds of cargo bags for use in future flights and 22 pounds of computer equipment.

It will return with science experiments, hardware and used gear.

The launch is an important step for NASA and the United States, which currently has no means of independently reaching space. NASA relies on the Russian space agency to ferry U.S. astronauts to orbit.

The Falcon can be tracked Here too.

And that's Falcon as in Millennium Falcon I think, as I think the guy who owns the company is a StarWars fan. Me too John.

Update: I was right, the Falcon 9 is named after the Millennium Falcon and the engines, Why the Falcon is powered by 9 Merlin engines...

Nine Merlin engines?

I had a mental image of a rocket with nine propellers until i read the article.

And to think the rocket is only 180' x 12' in size.
