Both SETI and Einstein are working now.

Thanks for the suggestion to try the BOINC software that is currently in test.

I'm a bit weary of using software that is in test..

I too have the same 'HTTP error' messages, furthermore, finished SETI wu's upload fine and the reporting of tasks goes fine also. I did need to reset another project (FreeHAL), don't know if there is any relation.

[edit]
This post was a good one! => performing a 'ipconfig / flushdns' did the job for me!

Yeah, I tried the flushdns, and a reboot, and a router power cycle, and the modem for good measure.. still wouldn't do it. did an nslookup on the boinc2 url and got .13 and .18. Punched the fanout URL into firefox starting with 13, instant fail. tried .18 and it worked. went to HOSTS and made a static reference, all my downloads came through.

With your BOINC version, the reboot has only a 50% chance to get it right.

Don't forget to remove the static reference by time.

I've been leaving mine alone.
After 3-12 hours they all download without me doing anything.

I can upload, But I can not download, I first spotted this in 6.10.48, So I down graded to 6.10.47, Still gets an http error on trying to download, So I could go to either 6.10.46 or 6.10.45 as I have both, But I'm not sure It's Me only, Anyone else having this trouble?

I hope you guys which have current probs with DL, you know how to edit your hosts file.
This little trick work/ed for me the last ~ 24 hours.

EDIT: Be aware, only for experienced user!
And don't forget to delete the entries again or make a # in front of the addresses, if it'll work again without.

My mind was elsewhere at the time(on the wind and the metal carport), the dl issue seems to have cleared up since then though. :D

I've been getting it for the last day or 2 & after a few hours they've all downloaded without intervention from me.

I'm getting

24/04/2010 09:44:07 [http_debug] [ID#434] Info: Trying 208.68.240.13...
24/04/2010 09:44:08 [http_debug] [ID#434] Received header from server: HTTP/1.0 503 Service Unavailable

meaning: Vader is having the weekend off again.

Anyone running BOINC v6.10.24 or later will see the downloads clear automatically after a few retries: anyone running an earlier BOINC will need to restart BOINC to get it to try again, or resort to the hosts file trick.

[If Ned hadn't been so successful in finding the libcurl patch, the project would have noticed that Vader hadn't restarted cleanly sooner than this....]

If you are courageous and you would like to 'hack' your Windows.. ;-)

If you have probs with DL, go and search the hosts file on your system.
On my WinXP Home the file is there: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Open it with Editor (german), IIRC it's Notepad (UK/US).
And read the instruction/example.

Insert the following on the bottom [copy/paste]:
208.68.240.18 boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu
208.68.240.13 boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu

Save and you are ready.
Restart of your PC and BOINC should DL all your waiting DLs.

If someone say: 'Hey, it work again without tricks.' Then you should delete this both entries again or make a # in front of both addresses.
Save again.

And again: Be aware, only for experienced user!

From http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/client_types.php it looks like only about 25% of hosts are using 6.10.24 or later. Perhaps the difficulty will only become obvious if Bane melts under the load... ;^)

Would you mind becoming a BOINC Alpha tester? See the instructions here, so that 6.10.44 can progress to recommended status. Then the developer for the Mac can add all the latest code changes and bug-fixes in a newer test version.

I ended up resorting to the hosts file trick even though I am running 6.10.44 on my Mac, the downloads were stacked up like cordwood and not going anywhere.

As soon as I put a # in front of 208.68.240.13, they all downloaded just fine.
