Great Attitude Cx and very well said!!

Since switching from Classic SETI to BOINC SETI as classis was retired,
I've jumped from 4,446 classic credits to 19,462.78 BOINC credits with 2 measly machines.

Soon to break the 20K mark.

ENJOY!

...Whether you're committing a room-full of servers, stacks of blades, or just *one* old "spare" PC chugging along under Win95/98, EVERY WORK UNIT each person (or more accurately, your *computer*) completes is ANOTHER STEP closer to the goal of whichever project you're subscribed to.

ONE Work Unit every few days? If that's your contribution, IT's STILL VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
...
So here's to the Big Crunchers, and here's to the Li'l Chippers...
To Progress! Forward, slowly or quickly, is still FORWARD!

Encouragingly,

.Cx.

*Heflin*

Thanks for the encouragement and support. =)
I hope all "NewBOINCers" and "Chippers" alike will take it to heart!

(edit)
Heflin, of your "two measley machines", your 1.4GHz laptop (Pentium M) is averaging 182 while your 2.4GHz P4 is only averaging 80... You use your desktop more than the laptop, I take it? *grin*
Or how else do you manage to crank out 182 avg on a 1.4G, pray tell? =]

From 2k to 4k in just over 2 weeks,.. still chugging along nicely over here.
(This, considering the lapse we had several days ago...)

Average has gone up from 70 to 90+.

Not much compared to the Big Players & High Rollers,
but at the Table of Small Hands, a Two-Pair is still in it to win!

;)

<-Cx->

... one of the "Li'l Chippers" amongst the "Big Crunchers" ...

I've got an old PIII I need to crack and set up, then I'll have a second
machine to do some BOINCing for me. Perhaps I'll pick up another project...
WCGrid, perhaps??

Since this is an openly supportive thread, I'd like to take a moment to THANK all the big Crunchers out there for illustrating what we can achieve whilst contributing to this project (and others).

I'd also like to invite anybody "NEW" to BOINC, SETI and/or other projects to celebrate your own "milestones", no matter how "small" they may seem in comparison to the 100-thousands and the multi-million+ marks the long(er)-time crunchers have reached.

"A Journey of a Thousand Miles begins with a Single Step."

And so it is, even here.

Whether you're committing a room-full of servers, stacks of blades, or just *one* old "spare" PC chugging along under Win95/98, EVERY WORK UNIT each person (or more accurately, your *computer*) completes is ANOTHER STEP closer to the goal of whichever project you're subscribed to.

ONE Work Unit every few days? If that's your contribution, IT's STILL VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

*DO* "celebrate" even YOUR "Milestones" as you set out, alongside everyone else here, and remember -- "Size Matters Not". (Here's to betting the majority of people out there will know to whom that quote is attributed!)

It is in that happy vein that I'd like to declare passing the 3,000 work units mark. (Yes, that's three THOUSAND; I didn't "forget" a few zeros..!) ..and managing to up my Average Work Units from 20-something to over 80.

Here's an Open Invitation to all the rest of us with our simple, solitary computer, contributing its spare resources while we're away at work, or asleep, (or even asleep at work!) to also Be Counted.

You're giving what you can, and that's all that was ever asked of you in the first place.

So here's to the Big Crunchers, and here's to the Li'l Chippers...
To Progress! Forward, slowly or quickly, is still FORWARD!

Encouragingly,

.Cx.

Well said
