Welcome for your first forums post!

(german) Hoffentlich auch in Deutschland erscheinend, bzw. den deutschen Zeitschriften. Online in deutsch wäre natürlich optimal. Ich habe mich an dem Projekt ab dem 27. Juli 1999 beteiligt mit einem Pentium 133Mhz ohne MMX. Später über BOiNC mit über 20 Projekten an verschiedenen Rechnern mit machen lassen.

By the power of Google Translate and a bit of guesswork:

Hopefully [the science results will be] also appearing in Germany or the German magazines. Online in German would of course be ideal.

I participated in the project from July 27, 1999 with a Pentium 133Mhz without MMX. Later [I] let BOINC do more than 20 [different] projects on different computers.

Congratulations on a very long run of computing!

Greetings,

I am honored to have participated in this project for almost 21 years. Just 3 more months and I would have hit 21 years. :)

I will continue for as long as I get work to crunch. In the mean time I will look for another project or perhaps just shut down my garden.

Have a great day! :)

Where can we sign up for Nebula?

Nebula is a system that is being developed to search through all the WU results that we have processed.

There is a lot of development for Nebula to make sense of what we have found so far...

See the Nebula forum for details. There's details for how you can use the Nebula interface to look at some of the test results for yourself and to give comment/feedback. Note that some of the details are very detailed!

I've been crunching SETI's numbers for almost 20 years, from Windows NT on a dial-up modem to today, with all sorts of upgrades to my hardware, hoping to help find out that we are not alone. But nothing lasts forever, so I'll crunch some more numbers for BOINC projects in your absence.

I can't say I truly understand why we're shutting down, with so little of the sky having been surveyed, but such decisions are above my pay grade. If you need help again, just let me know.

When ever I discuss my current computer hobby and BOINC it always begins with the SETI screensaver I downloaded a very long time ago. That's what sparked my interest. I'm happy to have had the opportunity to participate.

I started with Seti@home as Choppedliver on 15 SEP 1999, and provided 96,132 hours of CPU time for 15,872 classic work units, plus 4,560,113 credits. Every CPU under my control was used, in part, for the project, including lots of HP Itanium processors. I never doubted the validity of this research. The time I spent monitoring and managing my account was done with the conviction that we would make a difference. The data SETI@Home amassed will be useful far into the future.

I am very sad about the end of the SETI@home.
I could participate in this project for 21 years and was very happy.
I thank all the staff of this project.

It's both sad and exciting at the same time. Now I'll be eagerly waiting for the results of the analysis... If only they could be positive! :-)
Gazing at the skies, hoping for contact... Unlikely, but it would be such a fantastic opportunity to learn.

Well, that sucks. On the other hand there is the question of what to replace it with.

Go for the Meta Astronomy project or pick and choose something else.
