Hello community! I was 'brave' and upgraded my system from 190.38 (which was the fastest on my system, with stock S@h Enhanced 6.09 cuda23 app), to 266.58 for to make more S@h BETA testing. Installed only driver and nView. Not PhysX. With 190.38 WinXP had a little nVIDIA icon in the system tray. There I could choose inter alia the performance of the card. Now with 266.58, this entry is missing in the menu. This is normal? Where I could find now this feature? Or the installation failed? Thanks! - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

There should be an Nvidia control panel in your computers control panel. I use the Nvidia control panel for overclocking, as I can create a profile that my rig boots into. I do increase the GPU voltages with Nvidia Inspector, but I find the control panel quite useful. I'm not sure how that compares to what you were using, as it had been quite a while since I used that older driver. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Just right click on the Desktop, one of the options should be Nvidia Control Panel, Claggy |

The feature which I miss in the system tray icon menu is the choosing of quality, normal and performance. Maybe it's not there, because I didn't installed PhysX? OTOH, influenced this settings the CUDA performance? - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

No, I don't play games at the PCs. So I don't need PhysX. ;-) On all PCs only CUDA on the cards. In my test (CUDA apps comparison) which I posted in past here in the NC subforum, there was no speed difference with and without PhysX installed. It's strange, that the feature is missed now in the menu. I guess now, maybe because I didn't installed PhysX. - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

Nvidia has something called "Nvidia System Tools with ESA Support" This will allow overclocking and temp monitoring. |

Thanks to all. I don't want to OC and so on.. they are manufacturer OCed. ;-) At the system tray icon of nVIDIA is a menu (mouse click), there I can change the resolution, refresh rate, color depth and so on. With 190.38 there was also a point with 'performance', there I could choose IIRC 'high performance', 'normal' and 'quality' (or something similar). With 266.58 this point is missing. BTW., influence this settings the CUDA performance? - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

Just in case this makes a difference, Sutaru is on a XP system. Carola ------- I'm multilingual - I can misunderstand people in several languages! |

It could be that they have done away with that in the new drivers. [/quote] Old James |

It could be that they have done away with that in the new drivers. From what I've been reading this is the case. I know my 266.58+ hasn't had it. The latest one do have it, however the driver is buggy as all get out. I would just stick to right clicking the desktop though, normally that icon in the taskbar is one of the first things I rid myself of when I install a new video driver. I mean you use it to setup your video option then never touch it again....least that's my experience. Traveling through space at ~67,000mph! |

Hi Sutaru I have the tray icon and am using XP with 266.58 drivers. If you do not have it, run the Nvidia Control Panel and go to the Desktop menu. Under there is an option to tick for 'Show notification tray icon'. Hope that gives you what you are looking for. Regards, John. GPU Users Group |

The nVIDIA icon in the system tray is normally there, but with 266.58 the upper mentioned one point is missing in the menu. If I adjusted the GPU, I disable the system tray icon in the nVIDIA control panel. So it will not shown again. I downgraded back to 190.38 (& stock S@h Enhanced 6.09 cuda23), because it's still the fastest on my system. If in future S@h v7 CUDA will be released (or I test the next new BETA app), I guess I must upgrade all my systems to at least 197.x or maybe 266.x+, 190.x will not longer supported from S@h. - Best regards! - Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. - Optimize your PC for higher RAC. - SETI@home needs your help. - |

I don't want to OC and so on.. they are manufacturer OCed. ;-) Influence this settings the CUDA performance? - No, they are to choose/balance the 3D look and speed of 3D games. (e.g. "high performance" meaning no FSAA, no anisotropic filtering for faster gaming (big FPS) and less visual quality) Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
