I'm multilingual - I can misunderstand people in several languages!

Since Oscar is replacing Mork and the other replacing Jocelyn I'd say a female name.
O is the second letter from M. The second from J is L . Lois would be nice.
A tough gal . Later they would be the OL' couple.

As in: Lois(Lane)?

Of course although it's also the name of Buzz Aldrins's wife wich I found out googling Oscar and Lois :-)

We were to late she is named already.

For us slow, out of the loop folks, I hope someone will explain how we ended up with Carolyn and Oscar.
Not sure how Oscar was selected. I did see three or four clever names to match up with Oscar. Carolyn was not one that I remeber.

There was discussion after the FIRST server drive.(up to #3 now)In which Mark started the thread as a challenge to get 5 others to put up 1,000 each. His preference was asked and it was Oscar in honor of his deceased cat. Most people were in agreement, and Oscar has been written and agreed to before this thread ever started. There was no real debate on what to name the first server in this thread.

Jocelyn was the master BOINC database server until the end of August 2009, she's been recalled for an encore performance. While the nearly 14 months of service that mork provided are valuable, jocelyn has filled the role for much more time. I think it's time for another feminine name anyhow.

Keeping on that theme, how about Carolyn - sounds kind of like Carl, similar to Jocelyn, and Carolyn Porco worked with Carl Sagan briefly and is quite connected to the theme of extra terestrial exploration and astronomy.

His memory is still very strong with me. He was a very special kitty, and I am grateful that he has been so honored.

Posted by Matt over in Tech News Forum...

Today we got carolyn up and running as a mysql replica - if all goes well both mork and carolyn will be replicating from the master database on jocelyn without hitch over the weekend. This will be a good "burn in" to prove that carolyn is handling the job, and we'll make it the master next week. Maybe. It is a short week due to the holiday, but then again we're being more aggressive than normal to push projects forward.
