Profile: Fred J. Verster

Personal background
My name is Fred, born, in 1951 and living in the Netherlands. Space, science, medicin, computers are one of the many things, I'm interrested in.
Sailing, photography, etc. Till I found SETI@home, first 1 P3 @900MHz and a few
PII's. (Given up off-road car(t) racing(demolishing, by then)
I'de probably build a house around computers, if my GF hadn't stopped me, but when I first saw SETI@home in 1999, I became addicted to astronomy and the BIG
Question, are we alone in this 'endless universe', not actually a question
cause I could not and would not accept, our earth being the only planet, in a solar system, where life has emerged, inspite of the 'special position' our planet excists. (Having a non 90 degree rotation axel, like most other planets do have, which giving us 'our climate'.
When it comes to computers, especially, building them and tuning them getting the most out of them also started to use more then one :)

Glad having this "hobby", as my health keeps me at home more often, then I wanted to.
And when getting involved in this Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence, you can easily spend hours- days- weeks- months, etc. reading and writing in the many forums, SETI@Home has. And that's only one aspect
of this search. Optimizing PC's, even the Science Applications, the use
of graphic cards as calculation option has become a Project of it's own!
