I'm getting limited to 20 WU still. I've had to resort to re-scheduling VHARs to my GPU to keep it busy - yeuch! And it may work for awhile if you sit at your computer 24/7.... Official Abuser of Boinc Buttons... And no good credit hound! |

This is getting totally stupid. Why doesn't Dr.A think things through first, before applying changes and systems that limit complete hosts rather than by processor type. Is it surprising that the servers fall over, they are being hammered by requests for work, and if the host gets some, in the main it is only enough to last a few hours. Also because of these excess requests for work, reporting is being done one task/connection instead of the preferred batch reporting which lowers server stress. So far I think, if this was a student exam; Realising BOINC required changes - pass Design of changes - borderline pass, but this could change when if and when we see the final result Coding of changes - Fail Testing on Beta - Fail, because it was too short and not done with enough hosts (because they didn't know the trail was on) Introduction of changes - Fail Down time and system limiting - Fail Also the Beta site is still down. On return home which was later than expected I was going to contact Jason to do some testing on GT240. Can't do that so, while I watch the land of my birth beat the cheating 'hand of god'. Just scored the third 3 - 0. I will seriously consider whether I want to continue with BOINC. |

I guess patience is again the key. Sure, I have now maybe 4 or 5 days WUs and not an idle PC, but then also the same like a lot of (all) other members. I guess we need to wait to at least Monday or to Friday that this strange server message will be placed (improved) correctly or take away. But, we feel like at a BETA project here. New server functions/rules - but buggy - again time for to solve. But, we all here around (should) believe in the science of (our loved) SETI@home project. :-) |

My top producing rig is about to run out of Cuda work now.... I'm patiently waiting and It has nothing to do with being happy. ;p The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Jeff wrote this in the news section regarding work flow....... The idea behind the jobs per host limit (currently set at 20) is to allow every host that tries to connect to get some amount of work. This is at the cost of some of the hosts getting as much work as requested. This limit is necessary only when we are pegged at our outbound network limit (but if that limit were raised, we would surely hit some other in due course). This limit will be tuned. We've just started working with the three-day outage protocol (in the interest of doing science, ie, looking for ET). We're learning how to work with it. Adding to the newness of this way of running the servers, the fact that this is a holiday weekend, and a big chunk of our team (that being Matt and Eric) are away at this time, we have a situation that's hard to get just right. Please bear with us as we work through this. This plea goes out especially to the power crunchers, who together form the bulk of this project's computational backbone. Assuming no crisis, I plan to remove the jobs limit on Monday (a holiday) so that some (but not all, because we will be pegged), of the crunchers can fill their queues. My request is that the crunchers reduce their queue sizes so that more of you can at least partially fill your normal queues before the three-day outage. Thank you. |

No more GPUs in cache 03/07/2010 22:23:31 SETI@home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Fine with some limit, but as someone said, it shouldn't be 20 per host but 5, for example, per CPU/GPU. |

No more GPUs in cache That would require more rewrite of the server code. Maybe it would be a good idea to first get the per app/resource changes in place and working before inserting new work limits codes. Refinements will come later. You can't get everything in at the same time without screwing things up even more. |

A question and change of subject (not a sanctioned diversion) ;-) I have just noticed the following on my account and wonder what the problem may be in downloading this element. Sat Jul 3 09:48:52 2010 SETI@home Backing off 3 hr 18 min 37 sec on download of astropulse_5.05_i686-apple-darwin My client has been trying to download this for some time, and I have not pursuing the issue due to the work limit issue that is preoccupying us. Any ideas? Kenn What is left unsaid is neither heard, nor heeded. Ce qui est laissé inexprimé ni n'est entendu, ni est observé. |

I'm getting limited to 20 WU still. I've had to resort to re-scheduling VHARs to my GPU to keep it busy - yeuch! HEHEHEHE I have the tool, it works on its own just like magic!!!! Sorry. Going over the top there a bit :) |

A question and change of subject (not a sanctioned diversion) ;-) Your account shows Anonymous platform. Are you using a third party application? If so, Boinc may be trying to replace a missing file that was supplied by someone other then Seti. You may need to reinstall the optimized third party apps. |

ya know, everybody has a certain amount of pride that might not let them admit when their wrong.. But you did jump on me and accuse me of something I didn't do.. Least you could say would be "Sorry" or even a simple "my mistake". It's not MY fault you can't grasp a simple thing like misinterpreting the meaning of something. Your wrong and wont admit it. I'm not amazed at all, I totally expected you to act like this based on your attacking me in the first place. I'll back off now before calling you a name like twit or arsehole... |

It's not MY fault you can't grasp a simple thing like misinterpreting the meaning of something. Hmmm. I just hope they can do it remotely because nobody will come in to work on the weekend. Especially a holiday weekend. No room for misinterpretationm there. You stated outright that nonone would come in on a weekend to sort things out, and then get upset when i take you to task for it. I don't think this will help the GPU guys, but change your project preferences to only run Astropulse. |

We should drop this subject... Yeah, but i'm sure we could keep it going for weeks, even months. Grant Darwin NT |

Change the interval that your computer connects to the project to 10 days. Then change your cache to 10 days. You will then cache 20 days of work. |
