captain kirk was always my favorite...because he was a man who could take defeat and turn it around in his favor...even spock's logic had to take a back seat to kirk's passion when it came to solving problems...the kirk character celebrated humanity's strengths and weaknesses...and was not afraid to let his heart guide him.

william shatner has a new album...it was produced by ben folds!...he certainly took his role in the series NBC shafted and made himself quite a varied and successful career...i listened to a few excerpts from the album and all i can say is...more shatnerian magic!

Star Trekking, across the universe,
On the Starship Enterprise, under Captain Kirk.
Star Trekking, across the universe,
Boldly going forward, 'cause we can't find reverse.

There's Klingons on the starboard bow,
starboard bow, again.
Chorus:
Star Trekking, across the universe,
On the Starship Enterprise, under Captain Kirk.
Star Trekking, across the universe,
Boldly going forward, still can't find reverse.

I like Star Trek Enterprise, but the only time it's shown in Hawai‘i is 11:00 PM on Saturday night! (And they wonder why they have no audience!)

I believe his name Was Harcourt Fenton Mudd. HE was in at least two episodes, the trouble with Trebles and I Mudd, it had someting to do with him being on a planet, that had advanced robotics, and in the end the crew change all the robots to a likeness of his wife and they all called his name as a only a wife can do lolololool.

Harcourt Fenton Mudd, what have you been up to? Nothing good, no doubt. Have you been drinking?! Well, let me tell you, you lazy good-for-nothing-”

“Shut - up!”

“-thing -thing -thing.....”

Why, hey just look at that name it screams out to you, Harcourt Fenton MUDD and he was a lovable old rascal and con man........Who could come up with a better name to be called by an angry wife......

Pavel Chekov is the best (after Scotty)! His storys and his (german voice) are fascinating, f.e. Chekov to the police officer in Star Trek IV (I think :-)):"Where we can find the nuclear-powered warships.".

But every character has its advanteges. Tuvok, Spok, Kirk and last but not least Scotty.

Scotty is realy the best actor seen in Star Trek ever! There are so much examples, but I hope everybody knows some.
!He's the one and only!

Actually, the two episodes in which Harcourt Fenton Mudd appeared were "I, Mudd" and "Mudd's Women." The actor who played Mudd, Roger C. Carmel, DOES bear resemblence to the character in "Tribbles" named Cyrano Jones who was played by Stanley Adams.

Hey, I am a geek. What can I say?

The character Pavel Chekov was played by an actor named Walter Koenig (probably from the German word könig), who is not at all related to me. He tried his best to affect a Russian accent, which I've always found a little odd for many reasons, including the idea that 300 - 400 years into this ideal future, such accents would persist when everybody on Earth was clearly speaking English.

IMHO the best Star Trek show ist "The Next Generation".
It probably was the most optimistic one and I still love it for that. Sure, it wasn't all good all day but at the end usually everybody was able to be proud of what thy accomplished and even the way it was done.
DSN showed a darker side of trek with the caracters facing a horrible war.
Still the caracters seemed fascinating to me.
Star Treks youngest spin off Enterprise just ventured out into uncharted space to take revenge for an "terrorist attack" on earth that killed 7. mio people. Capt. Archer didn't hesitate to torture a prisoner to gain informations. I quite frankly was a bit shocked. This captain won't be able to be proud of what he accompished.
Not to speak about the propaganda effect (torture is OK or what?).
So yes, I love TNG.
My favourite is a tough choice, but I guess it's gonna be Data.
In that spirit: Live long and prosper.

Sorry Howard. Didn't want to get OT.
To connect Scotty with my TNG posting: He was a remarkable gueststarr in 2 episodes of TNG.
And to get OT once again (sorry could not resist...)

> GEt real, torture is a tried and true part of war.....and TV and Movies are
> not real..........Trust me I know..........

No doubts about that. But as you completly rightly point out in your posting "TV and Movies are not real". So wouldn't it be great to show a future in which we as humanity have made at least some progress in that regard? Even if it is not real nowadays?
If I wanted to see reality I could have a look into the news and wouldn't have to watch ST.
Anyway I can absolutly see that Paramount isn't interested to paint a desirable future but to rank high in the ratings. Still I wish it wasn't going the way it is going with the series right now.
To avoid annoying the rest of you guys with that OT, but if you think you want to comment, feel free to e-mail me at sfisches@yahoo.com
