Message 886226 - Posted: 18 Apr 2009, 8:12:29 UTC - in response to Message 886196.

Well I worked on the cooler and replaced 1 of the 3 pads(That wasn't easy for Me to do either), But now I can run the fan at least as It was 82F in here still, Tomorrow I'll see about getting another one or two replaced and then see about draining the pan which should have been done back in October and clean out the muck as It's going to be in the low to mid 90's soon between Sunday(90) and Tuesday(94). It's a good thing I had not drained the cooler in a way as It proves the coolers water line is still good, Even though I'm prepared to replace the line and the pump If needed.

I remember that. Had two on the business Dad owned, ran 365 days. Replacing the pads wasn't that big a deal except you always scraped your knuckles putting the bend in the wire to release if from the frame and getting it back in. Then broom out the frame and clean out the drip holes so the pad would get soaked. The messy part was cleaning out the pan and the pump strainer. Never had the internal plumbing go bad but did have a float valve give up the ghost. Pumps went bad regularly.

As you can tell, BTDT.

Oh, and thanks Dr. C.E.T.I.

Two words here on plumbing woes: Calcium Carbonate.

The pad I replaced last night was filled with the stuff, Although the frame didn't have a whole lot, But I'll check It anyway as It was getting dark and I was tired, This Time I'm going out and doing two pads at once, I'll let the manager replace the temporary 7,500 pump with the 10,000 pump a little later as It's hardwired in instead of merely plugged into the Arctic Circle window swamp cooler mounted in the wall.

Have fun with that SJ. I'm still on a quest here... ;-)

Sure it is; after all, it's probably the most intelligent conversation she has (just kidding, misfit)

Any conversation that leads to victory is intelligent. Like this one.
