Profile: Labbie

Personal background
Started working with computers in high school (see some of my posts on that 2 ton dinosaur). Began my professional career in 1981 as a assembler programmer. I think I've done everything in the IT industry since then, programmer, data communication, systems analyst, system design, database design, network admin, network design, support, hardware, you get the idea.

Started my own company last year providing network and PC support for small business and home users. I just got tired of the corporate political rat race. Now my time is pretty much my own (at least once I've worked enough each month to pay the bills).

I like reading (although I don't read as much as I used to), astronomy, photography, rock-hounding, camping, hiking, all the outdoor stuff.

My dream is to win the lottery so I can finally buy a 20,000 acre (~8100 hectares) spread and build a moat around it. ;D
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run S@H for the science and the community of mostly like-minded people. I've found they are (mostly) intelligent, funny. sarcastic, and diverse. Of course, every village has an idiot, but so far I haven't found the one in S@H.
