Hi Everyone.

Would like some help/advice on the following please:-

I have been flicking through the threads & found them interesting and would like to join in.

On most of the threads, they have - reply to this thread & subscribe to this thread. Okay no problem with this.

However, I came across a very interesting thread - "Knightmare's suggested solution" but the reply to this thread link is missing - Is this a closed thread or am I missing something?

Welcome Patrick.

That particular thread has been closed/locked, which is why there isn't a "reply to this thread" link. Meaning that the thread has either reached its conclusion or things were beginning to get a little out of hand in the thread.

In this case, it could have been both reasons. ;)

Thanks Labbie.

I just wanted to reply to cRunchy's post as I found it very well said & to let him know that I found the Cafe Seti a good forum but was dissuaded from joining in because of the flaming.

Other than that, I have found the Seti forums very pleasant compared to a lot of others visited.

I was originally with the S@H classic back in 1999, but due to several family tradegies & personal commitments, I was unable to continue.

It's nice to be back though.

Thankx for the re-join Patrick! Just to add something to the mix..... you can choose to "Subscribe to this thread" if you wish, & it'll give you e-mail notifications of new posts to that particular thread.

However Subscribing to that particular thread would be in vain because in theory because "Knightmare's suggested solution" has been locked, so there will be no more posts to that thread. Unless of course a moderator has opened it briefly to make a comment. Rare, but not unheard of.

Hi Patrick...If a thread is locked or deleted you can always send a Private Message (PM) to someone you wish to directly reply to...I have sent you a copy of this text as a test.

Patrick,

I am also a returning S@H classic member. I droped out because the computer I had at that time was too bloody slow. I now have a G5 duel processor and it's so cool watching it chew through data quickly.

Hi Patrick, Hi Jon,

W e l c o m e

It's great to meet new people in the cafe.

Fresh coffee is brewing on the stove and doughnuts are served all night and day.

Glad you are both here.

Happy posting.

(P.S: I often wondered if it would be a good idea to have a 'Welcome New Members' forum folder or sticky thread for new people to say hello in?)

Welcome from me also

Maybe we should fragment the cafe even more and have a separate "Welcome" board to go with non-SETI politics whatever. The rule level of this Welcome board could be adjusted to ensure that any coffee offered is only of the highest standard. And of course, no instant tea!

No chance! After being tormented by my 6 younger female siblings, I died & was reborn - That's why my middle name is "Serenity".

Hi KenzieB, thanks for the welcome.
