Yeah, no. 800 is mine!!!!

We miss all sorts of interesting things around here if we blink.

I must've blunk. What's news in Dullsville? ;)

(OOPS! Just did it again!)

Welcome back, Beethoven. I wouldn't say that everything has been dull - seen as a whole the threads in the cafe are a little introspective at present, though.

Thanks, Michael. Yeah, that's kinda what I meant. But you and Misfit are right: at least we're finally seeing some new people posting around here...and that's just great!

Congrats Beets, you are UOTD!!!!

And good morning to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning to you too sir.

Congratulations Beethoven on being User Of The Day, but why didn't they give it to your current Seti account? I guess it must have been some administrative oversight which they'll be happy to fix. Can't have two license numbers on the same automobile.

This is cool, enjoy it. :-)

And Cluadette, yes, you can have more than one account here. I have 3! Hmmmm... I think I'll create a profile for my third one, so I can be UOTD with that one also! :-D

WOW, that looks really good. Yummi!!!

I saw on the front page, when I was saving this for you, Beets

Click the pic

that there is an interview with Eric Korpela to download, so I had to do this, and it took some time, but I have it saved now as mp3. And I'm listening to it right now, it's very interesting. And Eric sounds nice, it's always funny to hear people's voices, when you only have seen them as posts on a screen. :-) And my God, that man is smart! :-O

And yes, I definitely have my 100,000 milestone today, my LHC is now on 7998.72 and my AP/Beta is on 13317.68 in my BOINC manager, so I have passed the 100,000 point. :-D

And great for you to be chosen as UOTD on that account, Beets. LOL Maybe this is your compensation. ;-D

That picture makes the Eggs Benedict look very scrumptous...just like you see the food pictured on a restaurant menu. However, it usually transpires, at least in America, when you order it and what you get are two different things...compared to the picture on the menu, the plate in front of you usually looks like road kill has been deposited on it.

I don't know what kind of restaurants you eat in, but those restaurants I have dined in, where they serve dishes like that one, it looks just as delicious as that photo.

This is one of the restaurants I've dined in, and the dishes looked just as on these pics.

I'll be more specific...menu's with pictures of the food on them are the rule for most chain restaurants in America. Of coarse, a fine dining restaurant needs no pictures.

Ha! I have always accepted a little artistic licence.

In Germany I notice this most often with the ice-cream menu in a restaurant or Eis Cafe. Even though the establishment is not part of a chain they often have a generic colour menu to save printing costs and make their offerings more or less correspond to each photo.

And as always I was the last to find out. :)

They always save the best till last. :-)

someone get that man a cyberdrink and quick!

Then you better offer a drink to Siran and Jaaku, and others of the automods, who don't even know they are mods.

Jaaku? Wow there's a name from the distant past. Didn't he do space art?

Uh huh. It was pretty good actually. Makes me think of another guy who had made some art. You and Carl Cuseo had your fun with him, that was the first of your posts I ever read in the cafe back then. :-D

Hopefully you mean "having fun" and not "making fun". I thought his artwork was cool. I think he needs an invite to come back. :)

No, not Jaaku, the other guy. I'll try to find that thread, if not it has been deleted in the delete-fest someone has had.

You and Carl were so funny. I'm giggling of the thought.

I found the thread, the very first thread I ever read in the cafe. I read in NC at that time, and I followed a link to this thread in a post.

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=5962

What I laughed of was this conversation:

Misfit:
> Hey there people, i've been making celestial art for quite some time now,
> & was thinking you all might enjoy it too like many other people have! I
> have it hosted at the deviantart website at j4m3sb0nd
> feel free to browse around & tell me what you think! :) Hehe, you may even
> want to buy a print, eh? ;p
>
Fantastic! I dont know how you guys do that. I have trouble drawing a stick figure in MS Paint. :)

Carl Cuseo:
Seven months- big deal
I'm self taught- I use PAINT and I've been making art for seven minutes....cc

[Image]Drawing of a stickman[/Image]

Misfit:
How did you do that??

Carl Cuseo:
> How did you do that??

1. create masterpiece
2. upload to free photo host (I use photobucket)
3. copy tag into forum message box
4. bask in heaped admiration

Misfit:
> 1. create masterpiece
See thats where I get stuck. The other 3 steps are easy.

So, Misfit, has your skills improved since then? :-P LOL

Kyle was very good already back then, I'll look forward to see what he has developed into. Let's have him back and show us his art. :-)
