Oh i get you now. I think what i meant had little to do with that (I'll give a bit more thorough read). I did get of few that where affected be that i'm sure. There always are the occasional botched batch of units but i meant the occasions where the app botches a good unit. |

But the allegation of being a "bald-faced liar" did come from Berkeley. And I have yet to see any resolution on that either. Throw in some hot chocolate and you can have two to blame. |

I just need to correct something here. Validators, Assimilator, and Splitters are generally project specific. BOINC provides templates but it is up to the projects to actually write them. Hence the names: sah_validate sah_assimilator sah_splitter ----- Rom BOINC Development Team, U.C. Berkeley My Blog |

I exchanged emails with crunch3r yesterday and he said he was no longer interested in s@h and no longer wanted to hear or read about s@h.... It's sad...another one bites the dust. Account frozen... |

This unbelivable debate is about to reach a point beyond my comprehension. mmciastro has stated a point veiw regarding a questionable ESAH client. That is his choice and well within the limits of freedom of speech. Freedom of speech, as it is, does not prevent any to make mistakes. This doesnt mean that i agree with mmciastro because i dont. Infact i think he spilled his gutts and devaluated his integrety and trustvorthtness in this community, by picking on crunch3r on an obsrevation of a few results returned by a few of crunch3rs hosts - without establishing a dialoge with crunch3r before stating the topic in public - that is not serious research - and therefore i cannot take the statement seriously. The dedikation and effort crunch3r, trux, tetsuo maverik rai and others have put into SAH and ESAH throughout time has been and will most likely be beneficial to SAH in many aspects - a matter of utilizing the vast access of computerpower, and not spill it all over by making an avarege coded client that obviously doesnt utilize processor specifik instructions very well. I couldnt care less about credits, except of braggin to my freinds of course, but if the network is able to compute the work in less time, the project has gained proportionally. To mmciastro: Please go elswhere and display your statements - you will most likely not be taken seriously again, but you might make a "good" politician. To crunch3r: Dont be snobby and please join us again - we appreciate your work. To SAH: You guys didnt handle this case very well. To strikers: I am not joining you guys because there is a limit to how numb a situaton can get - strikes are an powerfull tool dont ever forget that. But i have turned to other projects such as LHC, EAH, Rosetta and upcoming Feynman, until faster clients are developed. To MattDavis: What the F¤%@ is wrong with you?? Have a nice day! Fred |

I'd like to add a new perspective to the discussion about distributing over-claiming seti applications: V 5.11 right from the source.. I guess someone needs to pull this version, too. Regards Hans |

I'd like to add a new perspective to the discussion about distributing over-claiming seti applications: Are beta binaries open to everyone? I would have thought not. Are people using them for production work? Hmmm sounds like if they are being distributed by the project no caveats then then they must be OK to use? |

I'd like to add a new perspective to the discussion about distributing over-claiming seti applications:Agreed.... Are all the naysayers now going to trash Berkeley the way Crunch3r was because Berkeley is distributing a 'banned' application....??? |

I exchanged emails with crunch3r yesterday and he said he was no longer interested in s@h and no longer wanted to hear or read about s@h.... Same here, my last post! P@H seems to get better credits for me, and some CPDN, LHC. Credits done by seti, is 481764. Cya2 in other projects!! |

I'd like to add a new perspective to the discussion about distributing over-claiming seti applications:Agreed.... Are all the naysayers now going to trash Berkeley the way Crunch3r was because Berkeley is distributing a 'banned' application....??? Well yes they might indeed. Had not thought of that. I too think it should be pulled without delay to avoid any confusion or cause anyone using it to have the same fate as Crunch3r albeit it is there for free distribution from the offical site. But interestingly it perhaps proves beyond all doubt that Crunch3r was innocent and anyone that questioned that position should tender their apologies to him for causing so much disharmony, unhappiness, stress to him and it all being both a useless and unwelcome distraction form the work at hand for the rest of us. Terrible handling on this whole episode straight terrible. |

It is over Are there any site providing optimized clients? in a message from Crunch3r he has deleted the source code and asked that everyone remove it from their computers. There is no need for a Strike, there were no winners. There is a need to get the credit system fixed... So it time to go back to Work, Crunch Or Stop it is Your Choice please just do it quietly... Pappa Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

There is now an English version of the blog entry I've mentioned before on some sociologically (and otherwise) interesting points about the strike, thanks to Dr. Christoph Jansen. You'll find it at http://fischer.uni-hd.de/efcblog/special/seti_strike.htm. Have a look ... |
