Profile: [SETI.USA] OneChicken

Personal background
I am a thirty-something father of 3 children (2 girls and boy) living in Western Pennsylvania. I am an IT manager by trade but have always been fascinated by scientific research. Ever since I was little, I would look at the sky and think it was just a matter of time before we make contact with another life form.

I just never thought I would be able to help find them...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I used to faithfully crunch SETI@Home classic (started in late 1999). I thought it was a really cool idea to have my computer which sat around all day to actually be doing something worthwhile. When Berkeley was getting ready for a full scale BOINC release in 2004, I decided to stop crunching. At the time, the BOINC software just looked clunky, message board posts were not too positive and I did not have the time to invest to make the change. Luckily I revisited the site in November 2005 and returned to the SETI@Home project. I've been participating in BOINC non-stop ever since. Since coming back, I've participated in 10 other projects, added a few computers to my "farm" and found a great group of enthusiasts and friends in my teammates @ SETI.USA..

Just recently SETI.USA. became the #1 SETI@HOME team with over 260,000,000 credits. It is hard to believe that when I started with the team in November 2005 when we just broke the 1,000,000 credit mark...

Hopefully we don't have to search the skies too much longer to find signs of intelligent life, but if we do, I plan on being part of the search.
