We are in the middle of database maintenance and currently have no work to send out. We should have new work later today.

Maybe panic mode now?

LOL, only if I messed up and didn't pick a big enough cache setting when the first warning came out last month. ;-)

Of course, for a "fee" I'll panic anytime somebody wants. :-)

I got my last WUs at 15:38 UTC. Even with a one day cache you should be fine.

Time to panic yet??? :-)

Nope!

Read the Tech News. They're doing more work to move onto the new databases.

Yes I know, I started a thread with the Tech News. :-) It was meant as a joke. :-) Hehe We should have a lottery, when will they kick everything back on???? LOL

FYI - The Master Database is now showing as down.

We're getting closer!

I'm 2 1/2 hours away from running out on second machine.

Start jittery warm up mode for a full scale panic. :-)

And now the Master Science database is running again - on Thumper!

Do you get the impression that the noise level in the server closet has risen with the new arrival ;-)

SETI@Home Technical News - Oct 3, 2006 - 21:15 UTC

As this item is being written, we are busy finishing the final steps of the science database migration. This is why the splitters and assimilators are currently turned off - the science database cannot handle inserts or updates at this time. So no new work is being generated right now. We plan to be back up tomorrow and should have enough work to last until then.

Addendum: Since we also have to migrate the science data for beta project, we are leaving that project entirely off for now.

This is a bit like the good old days...

As I got into the office this morning the were Several machines sitting there in withdrawal... Man don't the Scientists understand how tough it is on a Computer to sit there and do NOTHING? Esp... when it has worked its little butt off 24/7 for years...

Man it Brought Tears to My eyes, just listening the little ticky sounds and seeing the CPU Idle... I hope it did not break anything. I have seen drug addicts that were more responsive...

So the Human side aside... The Computers suffer the most! Sitting there with Nothing to do! They were designed to work and do what mankind told them to do... Now mankind, which kept them Happily Busy just took it all away... How Cruel!

It makes me want to start a Foundation, Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Computers. I try to keep all mine busy and happy.

Can't believe there's no new panic in here! I can't report results on either the main S@H or Beta.

I'll panic alone, then ...

I'll join you quietly, as I only crunch SETI and my cache is down to 4 days!!

The other panic factor is my RAC will drop-like-a-stone with no completed WU results to "report and confirm".

The Cogent Link looks like it is active again due to WU results being uploaded.

So, I assume all is coming back on stream?

At least I have just sent some results back, and downloaded 2 WUs!!

Hi!

Cogent down for an hour, and no panic here?

Ubereable, I have to go off net for a while to recover.

Ha, it helps. As soon as I posed (even a bit before, some time tricks),
it come back.
Time to panic elsewhere.

Have you looked at te Cogent link graphs at -
Cogent link graphs - to see whether things are down or running.

I see that there was a lot of bandwith drops in the last few hours!

No work from project means that the project (for some reason) temporarily has no work to give out. The server status page is only updated occasionally. If it was updated a while ago, it is possible that the server has run out in the meantime.
