You'll Be In My Heart - Phil Collins -for my daughter Jessica

Come stop your crying
It will be all right
Just take my hand
Hold it tight

I will protect you
from all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry

For one so small,
you seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry

'Cause you'll be in my hear
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more

You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart, always

Why can't they understand
the way we feel
They just don't trust
what they can't explain
I know we're different but,
deep in side us
We're not that different at all

And you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more

Don't listen to them
'Cause what do they know
We need each other,
to have, to hold
They'll see in time
I know

When destiny calls you
You must be strong
I may not be with you
But you've got to hold on
They'll see in time
I know
We'll show them together

'Cause you'll be in my heart
Believe me, you'll be in my heart
I'll be there from this day on
Now and forever more

Oh, you'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart, always
Always

I'll be with you
I'll be there for you always
Always and always
Just look over your shoulder
Just look over your shoulder
Just look over your shoulder
I'll be there
Always ...

No matter where you go, there you are...

Another Day In Paradise - Phil Collins

She calls out to the man on the street
’sir, can you help me?
It’s cold and I’ve nowhere to sleep,
Is there somewhere you can tell me? ’

He walks on, doesn’t look back
He pretends he can’t hear her
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there

Oh think twice, it’s another day for
You and me in paradise
Oh think twice, it’s just another day for you,
You and me in paradise

She calls out to the man on the street
He can see she’s been crying
She’s got blisters on the soles of her feet
Can’t walk but she’s trying

Oh think twice...

Oh lord, is there nothing more anybody can do
Oh lord, there must be something you can say

You can tell from the lines on her face
You can see that she’s been there
Probably been moved on from every place
’cos she didn’t fit in there

Oh think twice...
Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge.

Green River - Creedance Clearwater Revival

Well, take me back down where cool water flows, yeah.
Let me remember things I love,
Stoppin' at the log where catfish bite,
Walkin' along the river road at night,
Barefoot girls dancin' in the moonlight.

I can hear the bullfrog callin' me.
Wonder if my rope's still hangin' to the tree.
Love to kick my feet 'way down the shallow water.
Shoefly, dragonfly, get back t'your mother.
Pick up a flat rock, skip it across Green River.
Welllllll!

Up at Cody's camp I spent my days, oh,
With flat car riders and cross-tie walkers
. Old Cody, Junior took me over,
Said, "You're gonna find the world is smould'rin'.
And if you get lost come on home to Green River."

Welllllll!
Come on home.

Where Peaceful Waters Flow - Chris De Burgh

Restless heart, it has been a long time
Out here on the journey, for a glimpse of paradise
It's getting hard to find a place to go
Where peaceful waters flow.

I took a walk past the old saxon well
Down by the cathedral, i heard the chapel bell
And joined the people singing for a way to go
Where peaceful waters flow.

And if you don't know by now, you never will
Only love can find the door
If you could see it now, it's in your hands
Only love can reach the shore, to heaven

Always, she is standing by my side
She's my inspiration, and she's my battle-cry
And in her arms is the only place i know
Where peaceful waters flow.

And if you don't know by now, you never will
Only love can find the door
If you could see it now, it's in your hands
Only love can reach the shore, to heaven
Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge.

Sticking with the theme:

Dead Souls - Nine Inch Nails

Someone take these dreams away
That point me to another day
A duel of personalities
That stretch all true reality
They keep calling me
Keep on calling me
They keep calling me
Keep on calling me

When figures from the past stand tall
And mocking voices ring the hall
Imperialistic house of prayer
Conquistadores who took their share

They keep calling me
Keep on calling me
They keep calling me
Keep on calling me

Calling me, calling me
Calling me, calling me

They keep calling me
Keep on calling me
They keep calling me
Keep on calling me

But I guess the problem with the screamers in rock is, that they don't take proper singing lessons.
That's exactly it! I have an aquaintance who's got the same problems I had, but instead of taking her doctor's advice and either having surgery to remove the nodes or at the very least taking a year off for them to heal and re-training her voice, she keeps on going because she likes the way it makes her voice sound. In the meantime her voice just keeps getting lower and lower to the point she has no head voice left and has to scream in order to sing at all. I had a voice teacher who had done the same thing, only she wasn't lucky enough to learn in time to save her voice. Some people may have scoffed at an opera trained singer like Pat Benatar singing rock, but she had it right all along!

They cry in the dark, so you can’t see their tears
They hide in the light, so you can’t see their fears
Forgive and forget, all the while
Love and pain become one and the same In the eyes of a wounded child

Because hell, Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell, Hell is for children
And you shouldn’t have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

It’s all so confusing, this brutal abusing
They blacken your eyes, and then apologize
You’re daddy’s good girl, and don’t tell mommy a thing
Be a good little boy, and you’ll get a new toy, Tell grandma you fell off the swing

Because hell, Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell, Hell is for children
And you shouldn’t have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

No, hell is for children

Hell, Hell is for hell, Hell is for hell, Hell is for children
Hell, Hell is for hell, Hell is for hell, Hell is for children

Hell, Hell is for hell, Hell is for hell, Hell is for children
Hell is for children, Hell is for children

Oooh, a favorite...
---------------------------
Pat Benatar - We Belong

Many times I've tried to tell you,
Many times I've cried alone.
Always I'm surprised how well,
You cut my feelings to the bone.
Don't want to leave you really.
I've invested too much time,
To give you up that easy,
To the doubts that complicate your mind.

We belong to the light,
We belong to the thunder.
We belong to the sound of the words,
We've both fallen under.
Whatever we deny or embrace,
For worse or for better,
We belong,
We belong,
We belong together.

Maybe it's a sign of weakness,
When I don't know what to say.
Maybe I just wouldn't know,
What to do with my strength anyway.
Have we become a habit?
Do we distort the facts?
Now there's no looking forward.
Now there's no turning back,

We belong to the light,
We belong to the thunder.
We belong to the sound of the words,
We've both fallen under.
Whatever we deny or embrace,
For worse or for better,
We belong,
We belong,
We belong together.

Close your eyes and try to sleep now,
Close your eyes and try to dream.
Clear your mind and do your best,
And try to wash the palette clean.
We can't begin to know it,
How much we really care.
I hear your voice inside me.
I see your face everywhere.

We belong to the light,
We belong to the thunder.
We belong to the sound of the words,
We've both fallen under.
Whatever we deny or embrace,
For worse or for better,
We belong,
We belong,
We belong together.

True Faith - New Order

I feel so extraordinary
Something’s got a hold on me
I get this feeling I’m in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
I don’t care ’cause I’m not there
And I don’t care if I’m here tomorrow
Again and again I’ve taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much
I used to think that the day would never come
I’d see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

When I was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we’ve grown up together
They’re afraid of what they see
That’s the price that we all pay
Our valued destiny comes to nothing
I can’t tell you where we’re going
I guess there was just no way of knowing
I used to think that the day would never come
I’d see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

I feel so extraordinary
Something’s got a hold on me
I get this feeling I’m in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
The chances are we’ve gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I fear you’ve left me standing
In a world that’s so demanding
I used to think that the day would never come
I’d see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

To intro this song yes i grew up in a VW combi yes my parents were hippies
yes a picture of me wearing a sarong when i was eight exists but hell i am pure rock ;-).

Creadence Clearwater Revival
Proud Mary

Left a good job in the city,
Workin' for The Man every night and day,
And I never lost one minute of sleepin',
Worryin' 'bout the way things might have been.

Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.

Big wheel keep on turnin',
Proud Mary keep on burnin',
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.Cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis,
Cut a lot of cane down in New Orleans,
But I never saw the good side of the city,
'Til I hitched a ride on a river boat queen.

Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.

Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.

If you come down to the river,
Bet you gonna find some people who live.
You don't have to worry though you have no money,
People on the river are happy to give.

Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river.

'Green' is (c)1970 Jonico Music, Inc.

It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold...
or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ord'nary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a mountain,
or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be.

Kick Axe Lyrics - Too Loud Too Old Lyrics

Well This Ain't Heaven And This Ain't Hell
Just Somewhere In Between
An Awesome Sight, It's Dynamite
Like Nothing That You've Ever Seen

With A Mighty Roar, Fists To The Floor
Don't Blame It On The Toys
Don't Blame It On The Noise
Blame It On The Boys

A Screaming Guitar Wails

Leave Without a Trace- Soul Asylum

I fell in love with a hooker, she laughed in my face
So seriously I took her, I was a disgrace
I was out of line, I was out of place, out of time to save face
See the open mouth of my suitcase, sayin' leave this place
Leave without a trace, Leave without a trace, Leave without a trace

I tried to get a good job, with honest pay
Might as well join the mob, the benefits are OK
Standing in the sun with a popcicle, anything is possible
With a lot of luck, and a pretty face, and some time to waste
Leave without a trace, Leave without a trace, Leave without a trace

I tried to dance at a funeral, New Orleans style
I joined the grave dancers union, I had to file
Try to do the right thing, play it straight, the right thing changes from state to state
Don't forget to take your mace, if you're out working late
I have to see your face, you left without a trace, You leave without a trace

Shadow On The Wall - Roger Chapman & Family
Lyrics by Mike Oldfield

Shadow On The Wall
Shadow On The Wall
Shadow On The Wall
Shadow On The Wall

Like A Shadow On The Wall

Treat Me Like A Prisoner
Treat Me Like A Fool
Treat Me Like A Looser
Use Me As A Tool
Waste Me Till I'm Hungry
Lose Me In The Cold
Treat Me Like A Criminal
Just A Shadow On The Wall

Chorus

Like A Shadow On The Wall

Treat Me Like I'm Evil
Freeze Me Till I'm Cold
Beat Me Till I'm Feeble
Grind Me Till I'm Old
Wire Me Till I'm Tired
Push Me Till I Fall
Treat Me Like A Criminal
Just A Shadow On The Wall

Chorus

Black Shadow On The Wall

Shadow On The Wall
Shadow On The Wall
Black Shadow On The Wall

Shadow On The Wall
Shadow On The Wall
Black Shadow On The Wall

Like A Shadow
Treat Me Like A Shadow
Like A Shadow
Treat Me Like A Shadow

Shadow On The Wall
Like A Shadow
Treat Me Like A Shadow

Shadow On The Wall
Like A Shadow
Shadow On The Wall
Treat Me Like A Shadow
Black Shadow On The Wall
Shadow On The Wall
Like A Shadow
Shadow On The Wall
Treat Me Like A Shadow
There's A Shadow On The Wall

Like A Shadow
Treat Me Like A Shadow
Black Shadow On The Wall
Like A Shadow
Treat Me Like A Shadow

Dedicated to a wonderful woman in my life..

Lyrics provided by Azlyrics

LIFEHOUSE

"You And Me"

What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

All of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You've got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

There's something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right

Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you
and me and all of the people with nothing to do
Nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

What day is it?
And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
Ni newly returned, not newly knighted! Ni

Antony Magnus- thanks, that makes at least the 4th time I 've run into that sond since lunch ;) 3 of them in about half an hour (different stations on the dial, but still).

Permanent by Reveille
Rape me of my innocence, amidst these cold and rainy days
there's so much hate beneth the sky, my inspirations all washed away
so tie me down and cut me up, and pour my blood upon the earth
No helpful hands to hold me up, and can give a f--- for all that it's worth
(chorus)
breath in, breath out but take a closer look
because your life is laced, and now it's got you hooked
the hunters become the hunted, when it rains it pours
an instinctive push, you better lock your doors
Take a look around (x4)
Take a look around tell me what you see
and does that gash you permanently
Take a look around tell me what you find
Just an empty search through a foreign cut

I'm sickened by this odeous scent, gently drifting on the breeze
a wave of lust turning love to dust, and now we all fall to our knees
so cut me down and turn me loose, and spill my thoughts upon the page
a hopeless attempt to redefine, between our skyline and the seventh stage

(chorus)
Tell me what you see, take a closer look
Tell me what you find, take a closer look
tell me what you feel, take a closer look
Closer CLOSER

Take a look around(x4)
Light em up

fall down, it's permanent PERMANENT
you better shut your doors, you better lock your doors
and take a closer look, because the choice is yours

Give up or give in, Give up or give in, give up or give in
take a look around

Hanging On The Telephone ~ Blondie

I'm in the phone booth, it's the one across the hall
If you don't answer, I'll just ring it off the wall
I know he's there, but I just had to call
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone
I heard your mother now she's going out the door
Did she go to work or just go to the store
All those things she said, I told you to ignore
Oh why can't we talk again
Oh why can't we talk again
Oh why can't we talk again
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone

It's good to hear your voice, you know it's been so long
If I don't get your call then everything goes wrong
I want to tell you something you've known all along
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone

I had to interrupt and stop this conversation
Your voice across the line gives me a strange sensation
I'd like to talk when I can show you my affection
Oh I can't control myself
Oh I can't control myself
Oh I can't control myself
Don't leave me hanging on the telephone

Hang up and run to me
Whoah, hang up and run to me
Whoah, hang up and run to me
Whoah, hang up and run to me
Whoah oh oh oh run to me
