I just looked at my profile page and realized it doesn't show that I'm a seti donor. I think our profile pages should show that with the green star or with a status in the column on the right, or something. How do we get that added? Anyone? Edit: Okay, I just saw that if you click on "Account data; View" you can see that I'm a donor. But I wonder how many people go that far when they look at a profile. Oh well. Never mind. ~Sue~ |

The green star indicates you are a donor. |

The green star indicates you are a donor. Yes, I knew that. ~Sue~ |

Weight until you see Mr. Carpenter's spinning star. It was a special donor amount during a past fund raiser. So special recognition was given. |

To be fair and if I read the list correctly there should be ten of those spinning stars out in SETI land. I know I've seen four others. PS I'll answer to Carpenter because that is the translation and useful for ordering pizza, but it is Charpentier. PPS She's see it on another thread. |

I don't get stars, I just crunch along, some time it's lonely, some times it's not. Sigh,... I'll just hang out here, starless, you know.. for the last seventeen years.. ho hum.... you know.. 24 million credits ago and years of inflated power bills, plus loads of tech advice and equipment replenishments.. We get there eh? edit: Does any one think any of this is reaching the ears of the policy wonks at corporate? re-edit: We shall judge the credit system as a battle lost, sigh..... |

Know anything about TL? His rac is taking a nose dive. Posted by Admiral Gloval. One PC vs three. Posted by Zoom314, Vic, in LPTPW Thread Well, I don't have three machines; I have two of my own machines, (Prometheus/Andromeda, and Exeter.) Andromeda, (the MAC with GTX-750 TI SC), and Exeter, (XP Pro x64 with GTX-760), are currently both crunching Einstein. I made the switch to Einstein after my RAC here dropped to 11 + K for no apparent real reason other than the problems with CreditNew... (See Number Crunching...) Posted by me in LPTPW Thread. Hope this clears things up. :-) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

TL do you think there could be a way of getting a better conclusion if we attempt more gentle methods of persuasion? After all the many years we have put work into the program may on second reflection bring on changes. I just can't give up on the contribution I have made so far. edit: You have a better chance than us as you are closer to corporate than we are out here.... |

TL do you think there could be a way of getting I've already posted in NC and recommended to Jason that a Fixed Credit System be implemented, (like Einstein@Home), SEE NC "Decided to Bail on SETI for awhile" Thread... (I did NOT start that Thread; but, did add my two cents worth.) Update to Einstein RAC: 76.4 + K in something like 8 days of crunching from 6 PM to 9 AM Pacific. If my same two systems can do this there, they can do this here!!! Andromeda and Exeter are crunching two WUs at a time at Einstein on each GPU, just like they were here! 11 K RAC here is PATHETIC for the time crunched. I was happy at 18 K, and felt like I was contributing. I don't have money to make a huge farm of computers like others here seem to have. I can ONLY do what I can do. My hopes are that the powers that be read these posts in the Cafe and in NC and see fit to make the proper and appropriate change(s). I'm a lowly cruncher just like the rest of you. So, the ONLY power I have is to move my crunchers to a more fair project. When changes are made here to make this a fair producing Project again, I will return. In the meantime, Farragut, (my parents' system), will continue its limited crunching for SETI; and hopefully will keep my account in enough RAC Points to Post. felt like I was contributing. I believe this emotion should be pointed out and expanded on. One can only hope one may be listened too. edit: I could be all wet, and I am the only one complaining. Still it looks like this is it, and may the Devil take the hindmost eh? |

I have to echo TL and Ian on the RAC. It was(I assume) intended to be an indication of the efficiency and productiveness of a user, spurring competition between those users and groups of users. Multibeam V8 seems to award less credit for the same amount of cpu time than AP tasks and the Breakthrough GUPPI jobs I have processed seem to be awarding even less per cpu time. My point being when you start out (as I did 3 1/2 years ago) on one standard then can never again achieve that level due to the 'pay scale' being reduced with each new iteration people are going to get discouraged and either go dark or at best drastically reduce their devotion of resources. I personally have cut back from a high of 4 rigs to 1 full time and 1 part time. The RAC formula really needs to be revised if retaining current and attracting new Setizens is the intention. There is an Open Beta in NC that might solve the problem JE and TL, but right now it's for Nvidia only. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

'pay scale' being reduced This is reflected in other areas of todays world. The fact that "down sizing" works seems a bit harsh when applied to a volunteer. Still the project must evolve to advance. I would be happy if we could be given the news straight out concerning the intended directions being planed. Even if it is decided that the our precipitation is no longer weighted as surly or as important as it once was. I am in fact a grown -up, and I can take it if the world is not seen as such a friendly , or appreciative place as I may think. Like I said: "Tell us!" |

I hated to do it, but I had to take down my bird feeders, and stop feeding raccoons and other animals. A bear and her cubs just climbed up our neighbors deck, and stole one of his feeders. The last time, a couple of years ago a bear decided to visit, he made a problem in the neighborhood, and ended up in the neighbors freezer. Since I don't want that to happen to mother or cubs, I took down the feeders, and stopped putting out food. :( Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group.
