I may try to get my GPU back to work, but on another project. *:) Thank you for the offer. I will investigate the News thread and see just how technical I need to be to get this done properly. Since I have just reset everything today I want to make sure that everything is running smoothly before I try to help out. I also have another nVidia GPU that will soon be out of the old apps, so I likely will move it into the fray as well. Thanks again for the invitation. |

As for beta testing ... my widows boxes had no problem getting the stock apps a running cleanly. I had to update my NVIDIA drivers, but your version looks fine to go. |

Since I have just reset everything today I want to make sure that everything is running smoothly before I try to help out. You don't have to be very technical... don't let some of the development posts in News scare you off. :^) As noted just report any issues (not already known) if you have them. Also it's an open/public beta so I'm just a cruncher rather than a concierge. :^D |

The way I look at beta is ... even if I'm not testing the newest code, I'm providing the stock app results for those testing to compare to. The more people that help, the faster we get v8 GPU apps. |

My two macs have been put on quota because they have done nothing but return errors lately. Should I just disable BOINC for a little while or let them continue under quota (roughly 3 a day)?? |

Which OS X version are you using? Can you update to the latest available at the PPCs? I think Eric compiled the applications on a later version of OS X than you are using, so then that means you cannot run these applications. I'll go ask. But seeing time differences and all, it can take up to 6pm until I get an answer. |

Reading the other threads, it looks as if the Mac problems has been corrected. Assuming that to be the case (that the problems you were seeing were entirely related to the project's mistake), you'll be fine letting BOINC carry on as normal. As you return successful work, your quota will automatically be raised, and you'll be back to normal in no time. |

Reading the other threads, it looks as if the Mac problems has been corrected. He has the problems with the new version 8.03 application, so for him the problems are not solved. We'll have to wait until Eric gets back on that. |

Which OS X version are you using? OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger) is the OS. I'm not sure what PPCs stands for... I received the new 803 app but I am getting (and erroring out) PPC tasks instead of Intel (i686) tasks. I am running OS X "Tiger" on a CoreDuo (not Core 2 Duo) machine. No rush, as I am sure that this is a very low priority problem. I just thought I would let you know. Plus SETI Classic = 21,082 WUs |

No, you're getting the right tasks, for the right application, but it is as I suspected. Eric built the applications using OS X 10.5, the oldest OS X he has. Meaning that these don't work on older OS X versions. You either have to try to update your OS X, or wait for a third party to build the applications for older OS X versions, or look elsewhere with those Power Macs. |

So far I can report 63 consecutive valid tasks on my GTX 750 using the r3314 app: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/host_app_versions.php?hostid=7563243 It runs well but it seems to put a lot of stress on the hardware, even with use_sleep. It just took me about 20 to 30 seconds to switch from the Boinc manager to the desktop. I thought it would crash every second but it's still running. So, with the CPU at 100% the system seems to be on the edge. Can't say much about performance yet. The GFLOP rating is lower then for the V7 app, but the doesn't have to mean anything. So, is there already a newer version then the one I use? Would love to test further and see if the (un)responsiveness improves. Or maybe somebody has suggestions for a commandline? |

So far I can report 63 consecutive valid tasks on my GTX 750 using the r3314 app: I have no time to see if this has been answered, but "use_sleep" might help. I'm going to put my 6 & 8 yr to bed and read a good night story --- "use sleep". Just out of curiosity: What is the range of run times for v8 WUs? In my Tasks list, they appear from 59min to 2:36. My completed v8s range from 34min to 2hrs. Or is this moot b/c of the variety of hardware being used to crunch? I've read that v8 WUs have lower Gflops, but tax the hardware more than v7 WUs. |

The answer is "A bit longer than the same WU would take under v7 on the same computer". Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Tried 3314 again OpenCL NV on a GTX970. Not workable for me. Waiting for cuda :) |

So far I can report 63 consecutive valid tasks on my GTX 750 using the r3314 app: Add -sbs 256 -period_iterations_num 80. period_iterations_num should reduce screen lags. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

(...) I already have the -period_iterations_num parameter set to 1024 and 512 (!!) and there are still moments of extreme unresponsiveness, but strangely the GPU usage still remains in the 96-98% range! Aloha, Uli |
