Salt on porridge is excellent, but sugar is a last resort .........

Ah, that explains the conversation I had last night - it went along the lines
"What's the difference between those two bags of small white crystals in the store cupboard?"
"The one on the top shelf is salt, the one on the bottom shelf is sugar"
"Do they taste different?"
"Yes".

Other party scurried off saying something like "Oh dear, I think I've goofed"

Look on the bright side, at least it wasn't the chefs' supply of bicarbonate of soda getting mixed up with artificial sweetener...

A quick glance round the shelves in the lab, i have 21 different white crystalline powders, 5 would do you no harm, 3 would make you feel off colour, 8 would make you very ill and 5 would kill you outright.

Sugar is an ant magnet, something about it just draws them to it...

I'm glad I don't have any sugar...

Oh, now that brings back memories .....
We used disodium- and trisodium-phosphate for corrosion control in our steam generators. Tri- (TSP) is also a component of laundry detergent. One of the pranks we used to pull on people who were not well-liked is to add some Tri- to their coffee in place of sugar. Had a "laxative" effect within a couple hours of ingestion.... Never involved in it, myself, but saw it done to a couple of snot-nosed officers, one of whom was later fired (relieved for cause) for negligence.

Rather than beg for sufficient amounts of Splenda every time I get tea from a fast food joint, I just carry around a zippy bag full of it. I do have some fear that a cop is going to see it and think it to be something else.

(The flaw in this plan is that every time I dump some in my tea, I squeeze the excess air out of the bag and Splenda powder flies out and gets all over.)

Packets would solve that problem.

Yes, but it costs a lot more per unit that way.

I buy 1500 packets for My coffee, of sweet and low, on Amazon, I've seen splenda boxes that are nearly that size, but I like the pink packets, a box lasts Me about 1 year.
