Well it's not showing up here and it's not being blocked either. Yet in IE your icon is showing up just fine, in Firefox it's not there.

I'm on FireFox, and I see everyone's Avatar just fine. However; I'm experiencing a very VERY serious lag in accessing ANY Thread in the Cafe. I don't know if it is the site, or my computer; but it takes forever to load a Thread, and forever to make a post. Any suggestions???

In your Community Preferences/Message Display, how many messages per page have you set? I'm set at 40/page, threads usually load pretty quick.

Well, I made that change; and, I changed some BOINC Preferences to reduce the load on the CPU and RAM, and it is still VERY SLOW to access the Cafe.

It looks like it is my machine; so, I will have to run FireFox on my PC Laptop with Win 7, and run BOINC on the Linux machine...

{Above text from SLOW Linux Box... Below text from FAST Win 7 laptop...}

Now, I'm on my Windows machine and everything is FAST!!! :-)

I don't understand you... SETI doesn't give you money... You give SETI money; then you get a Green Star.

Just tried to turn my laptop on, wouldn't boot up saying MBR Error.

Loaded a Knoppix LiveCD, ran the disk check, 32,301,435 bad sectors out of 154,750,000 total.

I think i need a new disk.

New disk ordered, 500 Gb Samsung, 35 quid from Amazon, bargain.

Good upgrade from the 80 Gb old one, and will give me a good excuse to install the 64-bit version of Ubuntu.

(When i first got the Laptop 8 years ago i didn't realise it was 64-bit and installed the 32-bit version of Ubuntu, since then it's been easier to stick with it rather than wiping and starting again. There should have been a big clue in the processor name, "AMD Turion 64", but that apparently didn't register.)

Congrats on the new 500 GB drive! :-)

My Win 7 laptop is an AMD Turion 64; however, HP put in a 250 GB drive in mine, not an 80 GB drive... It originally came with Vista x64 SP-2; I just recently upgraded it to Win 7 x64. It has 4 GB RAM.

The HD's are the slowest part of 3
of my electric difference engines.

In Windows 7 My 500GB 2.5" hdd rotates at 7200rpm and scores a 5.9, which ironically is no better than a 3.5" hdd @ 10,000rpm. If I had an SSD that would be different, but I like hdd's since I'm used to them and I'm not sure of these ssd's...

When I started using computers a hdd needed to be held with both hands as they were BIG and certainly heavy and had a capacity of maybe 5MB, today I could put a 500GB hdd in a bag and put that bag in a shirt pocket, amazing how far We've come technology wise.

I must now decide if I will up
grade my old dual core Win XP
machine, or just get a newer core
i7 to replace it.
I am worried about heat in such

And when they go wrong they can make your head spin at 7200 RPM trying to fix them :)

Rocky's is gong to close later today for a short time while the cleaning crew do their stuff so would you all kindly collect your belongings.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation in this matter.

Finally a message from the Koala "We trust that you have enjoyed our service as much as we have enjoyed serving you. We look forward to serving you in the near future from the cleaned and re-stocked bars and restaurants that Make up the Rocky's Cafe complex"
