Well, I made that change; and, I changed some BOINC Preferences to reduce the load on the CPU and RAM, and it is still VERY SLOW to access the Cafe. It looks like it is my machine; so, I will have to run FireFox on my PC Laptop with Win 7, and run BOINC on the Linux machine... {Above text from SLOW Linux Box... (When i first got the Laptop 8 years ago i didn't realise it was 64-bit and installed the 32-bit version of Ubuntu, since then it's been easier to stick with it rather than wiping and starting again. Congrats on the new 500 GB drive! :-) My Win 7 laptop is an AMD Turion 64; however, HP put in a 250 GB drive in mine, not an 80 GB drive... The HD's are the slowest part of 3 of my electric difference engines. In Windows 7 My 500GB 2.5" hdd rotates at 7200rpm and scores a 5.9, which ironically is no better than a 3.5" hdd @ 10,000rpm. If I had an SSD that would be different, but I like hdd's since I'm used to them and I'm not sure of these ssd's... When I started using computers a hdd needed to be held with both hands as they were BIG and certainly heavy and had a capacity of maybe 5MB, today I could put a 500GB hdd in a bag and put that bag in a shirt pocket, amazing how far We've come technology wise.
