We still get raccoon tracks here, despite the terrible weather. They are quite distinct form the cat tracks, dog tracks, rabbit tracks, and the news boy walking through my bushes tracks. But haven't actually seen a raccoon for a few months. And no deer tracks at all this winter. That may be related to a reported increase in the local coyote population. |

I'd think the Coyotes would go after the Young deer, As their smaller and less able to defend themselves. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I did not think that Coyotes took down deer. And the old and the slow. A recent local newspaper article quoted some knowledgeable guy saying that more coyotes would at least force the deer to keep a low profile. This all relates back to a mechanical failure at a small dam in town two summers ago. Until they get this sorted out, there are growing brush and shrubs along either side of the river here in the west end of town, which is forming a highway into the city for wildlife of all sorts. We are getting more foxes, coyotes, and turkeys here in the western suburbs. Even one black bear. All very interesting, in my opinion. The spillway at the dam is needed for fishing in town, and for the local canoe club. We are seeing an interesting clash of special interest groups about whether the spillway should be fixed or not. |

Hello to all of my critter-loving friends!!! Surprise! Surprise! Rufus showed up quite early this evening, along with Izzy. I would not be surprised if Artemus shows up later tonight and Izzy comes back with him for a second meal. Anyway, I took these two pictures before sunset today. I went outside to take this one. Izzy is in front and Rufus is in back. I took this one of Izzy from inside the house. |

My raccoons get treats, but never belly rubs because I would like to keep all of my fingers... It's just a cartoon, I understand about the keeping Your fingers stuff as Raccoons like Pigs and Humans are Omnivores. In any case It's an interesting read. Aww Ang, that one of Izzy on the railings is just priceless! That's worth a competition entry somewhere. :-) I love Izzy on the rails too! Angela, those are some awesome pictures! I would love to be at your house someday, and see those fellows in person. I also agree about the refraining from the belly rubs to keep you fingers. Smart move! Eagle Raccoon Lovers |

Izzy loves to dance on our rails. She is our most consistent rail dancer. And John... puns and raccoons... These are a few of my favorite things!!! Thanks friends, for all your fun posts here. |

Izzy loves to dance on our rails. She is our most consistent rail dancer. Ang, I have a question: Is raccoon rail dancing akin to people pole dancing? I was just wondering. ... BETTER THE WORLD ~ PAY IT FORWARD ... |
