Message 1004467 - Posted: 15 Jun 2010, 15:30:50 UTC - in response to Message 1004453.

Thank You to all who helped to get the system back up and running.

I changed my cache to 10 days, it was at 5 days.

Luckily not all participants read here and are tempted to do the same. It would surely cause major server problems if all hosts tried for a 10 day cache. The option is offered for those who feel they need it, and the project has not used the protective measure of setting a maximum number of tasks any host can have in progress. If they were forced to set a limit, it would only affect the most productive hosts.

Work? Where.

I've got lets see 18 to work on, 4 being worked on and 28 that haven't reported yet, according to BT 0.60.
(@ Fred: I still wish I could set the work to per cpu and not per core as 1 days work shows up as roughly 5 days, Maybe as an option for the type of work? Please?)

I am getting these messages'
16/06/2010 06:59:27 SETI@home Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
16/06/2010 06:59:27 SETI@home Reporting 3 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks
16/06/2010 06:59:44 Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
16/06/2010 06:59:46 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
16/06/2010 06:59:47 SETI@home Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server
Is this due to the upgrade of the software, getting them on both of my machines?

It's time that the admins changed the "3-4 hours" to "6-8 hours" in the message, as even on the "normal" maintenance outage days it ain't 3-4 hours anymore. Not by a long shot. ;-)

The new GTX4xx series GPUs trashed all WUs so the project needed to change the quota rules for to protect the science.

Wed 16 Jun 2010 12:40:57 PM EDT	SETI@home	Reporting 6 completed tasks, requesting new tasks
Wed 16 Jun 2010 12:41:19 PM EDT Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
Wed 16 Jun 2010 12:41:20 PM EDT Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
Wed 16 Jun 2010 12:41:22 PM EDT	SETI@home	Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server

Most of the servers are disabled or failed on the Server Status Page.

Forums are obviously working but only for a little while before they have to shut the whole project down later today to fix everything again.

Last night, someone posted on the home page:
"We are having software upgrade issues. We will probably be down for the night."

And so it continues today...

Here's a new one. Check out your SETI Project Preferences page. I'm getting:
