Hey! That gives me an idea!

Let's you and me start our own Chinese restaurant chain.

How's this sound? .."Lichee NutHouse"

Sounds perfect :D

I can imagine it appealing to the masses.
Trouble is, I'd be my own biggest customer, LOL. Eat the profits as it were.

Great! I'm glad you agree. It sounds PHAT to me too! :]]

(who ever heard of a thin Chinese chef anyways?)

My first post in this thread.

Hope you are recovering well Beethoven... It is always sad when you lose someone.

Lunchtime here in Wellington, New Zealand. Just past 12:30. Nice cool breeze, Sunny outside and 21.C, not overly hot.

Might go out today after I have fixed a problem with my laptop.

Chinese sounds nice for dinner...

Have a good day everyone,
Luke.

Welcome Luke!!! :]]

I like your avatar. New Zealand has always looked just filled with lovely countryside and scenic ocean views. I'd love to travel there some day!

I understand from your PM that you don't have much in the way of a slot to use in your 'puter, nor much spare time neither.

Hey! That's okay, just post when you find the time. Know that we'll always be glad to hear from you, personal news, stuff you read or have seen, your part of the world...anything that you feel like sharing with us.

The Spanish say it so nicely, "Mi Casa esse sua Casa"...My home is your home. :]]

Welcome Friend!!!

Thanks guys!

Laptop fixed, some vague graphics card problem, which i will not talk about again...
New Zealand is a nice place, but I've always wanted to travel to America or Europe. Some day I will...
But for now, I must get some stuff done. Then I will dream.

It is the season of Autumn (or Fall) here. March 23, Easter Sunday. Which means long weekend... Woot!

We haven't had rain in about 4 months, so everything is crispy dry and at the smallest sense of flame everything will turn into a wild raging bushfire. Not very reassuring...

I'll be back in about 5 hours, no matter what the Time Zone.

Have a happy day, or night, everyone!
Luke.

Hey Luke!

Here's a shot I've always liked, looking from a hiltop out to the sea. It's on the Kaikoura Peninsula in your country.

Gorgeous! Just gorgeous!

That's actually one of the nicest shots of Kiakoura I've seen, Beets, and I've seen quite a few, as I have been there myself. Beautiful Place.

I have a few GB's of photos on my computer, suprisingly none of my cats (Zazo & Sonar) but quite a few scenery shots.

But becuase of New Zealands Internet limitations, I have Dial-up (90% of Internet Connected New Zealanders do) due to cost and the pathetic speed on NZ broadband (you'd be lucky to get 4Mbp's on days) I cannot post my photo's.

Local Loop Unbundling coming soon, so I'll be getting broadband in about a month or two.

What is everyone else up to?

Luke.

Thanks Pellinore!

Not so good on my geography, but I believe the Shire was in the Hamilton/Waikato region...

Beets-working nights Healthy Choice has become a staple of my evenings. They also make dinners now called "Steamers" and they are really good.

They have an inner "bowl" that drains the juices so you can pour them back on the dinner after cooking

Thanks Blurf! I'll check them out this coming week.

Do you have any favorite dishes among them?

Hello Dear Friends!!!

I hope everyone had a pleasant Easter weekend!

Today's Update:

What a quiet day it's been; I just relaxed. I caught a bit of 'Corrie', that age-old soap opera (Coronation Street) this morning, but it doesn't hook me any more. It use to be so realistic seeming, but the situations seem artificial and exaggerated now..down to your average soap. They play 2 hours every Sunday morning here, but I got bored after the first half-hour.

Then I went and downloaded the Daily Funnies for today. There were lots of good ones I thought, but they were hard to capture. Some of the papers use either tiny, or (if magnified) huge images, which makes it hard for me to get the whole thing onto my clipboard. I use irfanview btw, it's much better than Windows clipboard: more features and more flexibility. So that took up about three or four hours.

I posted here a bit, had a chicken salad sandwich, then I took a nap.

When I woke up, I did a crossword puzzle. Let me tip you off to my favorite. It's compliments of the newspaper USA Today. Their online puzzles are in a beautifully designed flash format. It's the best format I've seen. Have a look at the link I've got below and you'll see what I'm talking about.

They're not easy either; they have a difficulty rating of 4. That's the same rating as the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post crosswords. Only the Sunday New York Times is rated higher, at 5 but they're bigger in size too. So, top notch quality-wise and much more user friendly than the N.Y.Times puzzles (I used to subscribe to those, so I can tell you that from experience). Usually, I can manage to solve them in under 40 minutes (there's a nice clock timer and a very exact detailed score of how you did. I also like that the USA Today crosswords pick from a large group of puzzle makers, so you don't get the same words and concepts over again.

Good crosswords keep you tuned up in vocabulary, important people, current and historic events and personalities, and they can be a lot of fun to solve. The latest thing is to have themes for several long answers in their puzzles. Once you crack one or two, it's easier to solve the other long ones because you've figured out how to use the theme.

I sometimes use them for a bit of an escape. You get so focussed solving them that you can't think of anything that's bothering you. So they've been handy that way too in the last few weeks.

Here is the link for the USA Today's puzzle. You'll see there's also two weeks worth of archives. I hope you try one out and enjoy it. :]]

http://puzzles.usatoday.com/archive/2008/03/21

Just click on the box with today's puzzle "FUDGE FACTOR" by Norman Guggenbiller. When the flash finishes its thing, select "Regular Skill Level"; That'll make sure that any mistaken letter you put in shows in as a red letter. You can delete a letter by ctrl+del or just simply by using your backspace.

Enjoy! :]]

They broadcast Corrie over there Beets? It's a waste of airtime when it's on here, but to ship it over there...well, I never did ;)

Do you get Eastenders? That's another waste of airtime, but it's more realistic than Corrie :D (I watch neither just to be clear :D)

I'm off to read the funnies which having my coffee & donut from Rocky's.

Hi Bob, Richard, Andy, Albert and Al!

I'm doing so-so today. It's -18 Celsius so I'm having and indoorsey day. I woke up, lit the votive candle, said my prayers, had breakfast, read the paper and did the crossword. Then I worried about all the bills I have to pay, bit the bullet and called and made an arrangements about my oil bills ($2,400 a month and I'm already one behind. Drats!) Then to get unstressed, I watched this movie I picked up a couple of weeks ago but never got to see. It's called "The Kingdom" starring Jamie Foxx, a good action picture about some FBI agents travelling to Saudi Arabia to investigate an American compound suicide bombing, and then they get attacked by the Al Quaida types. Very good action scene at the end. It was absorbing and well filmed.

I just did another crossword. I'm amusing myself, but not getting around to looking after myself today (I have to clean that electric rasor again) or doing anything to get at all the cleaning I have to do around the house. I somehow feel I won't get around to it until at least tomorrow.

But, shirking my responsibilies though I am, I'm having a pleasant day.

I hope your days are going well, my dear friends!!!

GOD BLESS!!!
