The USA government is becoming a friggin joke. FEMA held a briefing this week and pretended real reporters were in attendance. Only the reporters were FEMA employees. In reality, it probably would have made no difference. Real reporters rarely ask tough questions these days. But still, is the US government going nuts?

Yeah I heard about that. Very strange indeed. It makes my mind wander about other possibilities.

Maybe they just wanted people there who would actually ask questions that were relevant to the subject being discussed?

How many of you think that some idiot reporter wouldn't have tried to make a racial issue out of the reaction to the fires as opposed to the reaction after Katrina??

If they can't handle tough questions, they should find another job. But where else but in Government could incompetent people find employment.

Sorry to interrupt, but for former communist countries and current communist countries this kind of press conference is a standard. I hope people would strongly accuse this kind of learning from communists.

Funny how it was only "inside" reporting yet you know so much about it...

Knightmare, BrainSmashR I am really wondering that you don't even seem to want to investigate such an issue. That's the price of freedom and if you don't want to pay it you get what you deserve: lesser taxes for the upper class, full control of the media by the government and big brother is watching you. It's just a matter of a few years and both Democrats and Republicans are working on that great future.

It's needed that some idiot reporter asks critical questions, if someone screw something up.

And especially if it's just an inside report it's needed to know more about the issue, to make sure what was reported is NOT true. But hey, why not fake votes AND press conferences, like commies.

I EARN a living...I don't deserve anything. The Earth AND the United States were both here before me.

Maybe you didn't notice that there are thousands and thousands of New Orleans residents back on their feet who didn't receive 1 penny from FEMA, including 3 of my life long friends. The choice wasn't that hard either, go back to work or sit on their butt waiting for government hand-outs.....guess which "class" is still complaining about FEMA...

lesser taxes for the upper class,

I'll never pay even close to the amount in my life time that Bill Gates pays per year, every year. What makes you think I feel that he should be punished further for being successful?

full control of the media by the government and big brother is watching you.

If the government is in control of the media and this press conference consisted of "inside" reporters...again, how do you know anything about it?

It's just a matter of a few years and both Democrats and Republicans are working on that great future.

Shows how little pay attention to politics.

It's needed that some idiot reporter asks critical questions, if someone screw something up.

And yet rather than fill that niche, you criticize those that do the work because it doesn't meet the standards of a conspiracy theorist.

And especially if it's just an inside report it's needed to know more about the issue, to make sure what was reported is NOT true. But hey, why not fake votes AND press conferences, like commies.

Why not spread propaganda when you don't know the truth.....like czechs. I mean let's be realistic...you don't live here, you don't even have a vote, and you get your "American" news from non-regulated websites which can report anything they want, truth or not.

The difference is some of US don't fall for every scrape of anti-American propaganda some pig waves under our nose...and I, for one, am downright proud of your jealousy.

Start to worry when they pretend that the president is still living. (I have some doubts at the moment TBH)

You know, the Roman Empire didn't fall because everyone did their fair share...the Roman Empire fell because more people were living the sweet life than there were those trying to preserve and maintain that way of life.

Think about it...

I agree with you about the Roman Empire. We probably just have a communication problem about the sweet life.

That's a valid argument, even though it would be more rational to discuss the percentage of income. You will probably not want to disagree with Warren Buffet, who once bet a million dollar, that not one of the millionaires he was speaking to was paying taxes the same share of his income as their secretaries. There is no punishment in this - it's just way tougher to pay lets say 20% of the first dollar you earn then the millionth.

I respect that you work hard for a living. I am no fan of welfare without responsibilities, too. It makes me angry that the systems get often exploited a way that the ones in real need (and it can happen to us all) don't have sufficient funds for a living.

And you are right again - too few are actually interested in politics. Just wondering if you want to tell that if someone screws up he shouldn't even be held responsible? That reporting mistakes to prevent similar stuff from happening is wrong?

Look, I am a German living in the Czech Republic right now (my mom's from there) but even if I'd be an goat herd in Afghanistan this does not mean all I say is wrong or that you as a US citizen are automatically right. You are making your life pretty easy just labeling anything as anti-American propaganda that does not fit into your world view (btw. the Czech Republic is in your coalition of the willing). There is no jealousy, because there is no need - I am pretty happy living NOT in the US as are many Europeans. And about non regulated websites: regulated websites are usually the ones not telling the truth, but just government propaganda (communist/dictatorship style) . If it's just about non-american sites: 4Mbit is enough to surf also on US-sites, but more important is to use your brain and common sense.

Percentages don't pay bills...dollars do, and the FACT of the matter is that the rich pay vastly more money into the system than any other class out there. You think we need MORE government funds, stop paying the parasites of the world to be parasites....work or starve. In 2006 that would have saved us $539 BILLION on Social Security alone.

I respect that you work hard for a living. I am no fan of welfare without responsibilities, too. It makes me angry that the systems get often exploited a way that the ones in real need (and it can happen to us all) don't have sufficient funds for a living.

It "can" happen to anyone is significantly different than generations being raised on welfare.

And you are right again - too few are actually interested in politics. Just wondering if you want to tell that if someone screws up he shouldn't even be held responsible? That reporting mistakes to prevent similar stuff from happening is wrong?

I don't think FEMA should exist, period. It's welfare!!

Look, I am a German living in the Czech Republic right now (my mom's from there) but even if I'd be an goat herd in Afghanistan this does not mean all I say is wrong or that you as a US citizen are automatically right.

I didn't say you were wrong, I said your opinion is irrelevant because you don't have a vote.

You are making your life pretty easy just labeling anything as anti-American propaganda that does not fit into your world view (btw. the Czech Republic is in your coalition of the willing).

Likewise, you make your life easy by worrying about American politics instead of worrying about the activities taking place in your own backyard.

There is no jealousy, because there is no need - I am pretty happy living NOT in the US as are many Europeans.

And yet you continue to discuss American politics as if your opinion matters...

And about non regulated websites: regulated websites are usually the ones not telling the truth, but just government propaganda (communist/dictatorship style) . If it's just about non-american sites: 4Mbit is enough to surf also on US-sites, but more important is to use your brain and common sense.

Something, in my opinion, you don't seem very good at doing

stop paying the parasites of the world to be parasites....work or starve.

Let me expand on that:

II Thessalonians 3:10
If any one will not work, let him not eat.

1 Timothy 5:18
The laborer deserves his wages.

Romans 4:4
Now to one who works, his wages are not reckoned as a gift but as his due.

;)

(Gotta just luv how employers always seem to think that they are doing you a favor by allowing you to work long hours for peanut pay.)
