Server Status looks OK, but I have 6 WU stuck in my "Transfer" queue. Any ideas why aren't they uploading?

Neil.

You are not alone -- it is happening here as well, it might be due to the wandering IP address syndrome -- see more in the weekend roundup in the technical discussion message board.

You may well find the suggestion given, in this parallel thread, by Jim Volfan here yesterday might help.

I have also cut and pasted it for ease ...

As was mentioned in post by Eric and Matt they are in the process of shifting ISP's. Currently one web Server still on the old network and is causing what are probably DNS issues in spots.

If you are having problems and the machine has been running for quite a long time what might help is getting rid of things in your DNS Cache...

* Suspend and Shutdown BOINC

* open a command window (windows boxes Start, Run, Command or browse to the menu item}, when it opens at the command prompt type:

ipconfig /flushdns

then type

ipconfig /registerdns

close the command window and restart BOINC and resume processing.

This may help in a few cases...

Pappa

I have been having severe upload and download problems on my six machines for three or four days now. One of my newest crunchers has run out of work and can neither report or download new work. I have two others in danger of also running out today.

This is getting really bad. I understand they are reporting problems, but I was having these problems prior to the Tuesday night maintenance window

It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

Well, that did work but there is something else really wrong with the scheduler.

I had my "home" settings on a short 1.5 day cache but one of my PCs was trying to download 250 WUs with "waiting to download" status and once I did get it to up and download it did download all of them *sigh*

On my other machine I never had any problems up or downloading but it only have 5 WUs in queue with the same "home" setting with a "(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)" which is way too little instead.

Your computers are hidden so I can't really tell whether or not this is the same problem, but you should take a look at this post of a similar problem I had in Beta.

Regards,
Wander

There are a lot of people who has this problem, i don't see how refreshing your DNS would solve this problem. I guess there is another problem.
Can't find any threads in the technical news, so we have to wait then. I am glad i've enough WU to hold on for a few days, but not any longer.

I think you missed the correct post in the thread :)
I just happened to have a UL/DL problem as well. The problem described by Crystallize was caused by a combination of v 5.8.1 and a DL outage.

The server status shows that no splitter is running. Probably this is the problem. The legend on the status page says:

sah_splitter: Reads tapes (or tape images on disk) containing raw telescope data and creates workunits for the BOINC/SETI@home clients. At least one needs to be running to produce work, and that's usually enough.

I am finding no problems uploading results and downloading new WUs ATM, after the end of the planned outrage.

As regarding flushing the DNS, it may work or not. It did for me on my dual Xeon!

I've had no success with uploading during the past 27 hours, and it's been 10 hours since a download was requested with no success. I've tried flushing and renewing the DNS which did nothing. Someone give me a nudge when the problem is resolved!

All the servers are shown to be down, on the S@H Server Status page, and the Cogent link is off. At this time DNS flushing will not help!

Clearly the team are coping with some severe problems, as when the planned outrage was over things seemed to return to normal. But it is all down to caches ATM!

Sounds like it'll be back tomorrow. This is from the SETI front page...

One of our file servers went offline. It's alright, but will take all night to recover, so the project will be offline until further notice.
