> Racheal Is a Heroin! Thank you! > Tim, are you finally admitting you're addicted to Rachel? Recognition of the problem is half the battle. Or at least 15% of the problem. I think. I can't be sure. I was never too good with the math. Anyway, this could be the First Step in your recovery. "We admitted we were powerless over Rachel and that our lives had become unmanageable." You'll like the meetings. I know I do. See you there! And remember to take it One Day At a Time... :-p Robert |

Rom, I want to use this opportunity to also thank you. I'm sure I was in some way part of the problem also. I was one of the people on here who kept egging Mr. HR into further conflict. It is also very sad that this one person has effectively slowed or stopped the current progress of BOINC. Rom now has to take his time to create a way to moderate these boards, thereby taking valuable time away from the coding of the actual core client. Group, lets work together to get this project back inline. What can I do as an individual and what can we do as a group to help get this project back in line? Thank You, Jim |

> What can I do as an individual and what can we do as a group to help get this > project back in line? Jim, In my opinion, the project isn't really in jeopardy, but one of the features provided to participants by Berkeley (these message boards), which many of us frequent and appreciate, was being attacked. Various tactics have been used in the past: the shun/ignore technique, "-" ratings of posts or threads, pointless argument with abusers (sometimes fun), repeated bumps to push threads down the page, and most recently (by the development team) blocking the IP address. The recent problems have spawned numerous suggestions including ignore filters, restrictions on non-crunchers and a moderator or panel of moderators (you could volunteer for that, but think about it). These message boards are a great place to get information or just chat, and available techniques to deal with abusers can be effective. |

Yeah, thanks Rom! I was on the forum just 20 mins or so after this guy attacked the cafe - I was amazed, not seen an attack like that before, I suppose he must have written a script or something. Good grief, I've been blocked on irc before for much less than that - inadvertant flooding! Block his ip, for goodness sake - he's already back in another guise. <img border="0" src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=268&prj=1&trans=off" /><img border="0" src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=268&prj=4&trans=off" /> |
