I seem to be the first one here to write a forum post - so here it goes:

First of all - welcome to the new seti@home project!
A lot has changed, but I'm not in doubt that you will feel at home here after a short while.

Here's a few interesting links that you may want to have a look at:
- Paul D. Buck's BOINC owner manual
- Paul's website manual
- BOINC.dk - A statistics site with detailed info (when this project start making it available).
- The BETA test of BOINC and seti@home - with some nice info in the forums
- The ALPHA test also with info in the forums
- The official BOINC page with loads of stuff about how it works

If you have any trouble or find any problems with the software you should check out The Helpdesk and Questions&Answers section of this site. There will be loads of alpha- and betatesters to help you out - no question is too stupid (but please check to see if it has already been questioned before).

Some (experimental) GUIs for linux and a setup to take you to the BOINC mIRC-channel can be found on the (currently not very long) list of add-ons for the BOINC client.

Perhaps someone from your country has already made a page about BOINC and seti@home - you can check to see if this is the case here and here (when it goes online).

-----

Some links with interviews and other stuff about BOINC and the future of seti@home:
- An interview with David Anderson by CERN's Grid Café (RealPlayer) (Perhaps mirrored here)
- Older interview with David Anderson by AstroSeti (text) when he visited Spain late 2003

Good luck!

Yes indeed. Thanks to all the developers, Alpha and Beta testers. It has been a long and sometimes difficult road, but we are almost home.

Special thanks to Rom, David A, Janus, Paul Buck, and all those other names I can't remember at the moment. Of of course to Byron Leigh Hatch whose persistent optimism and graciousness kept the light shining when it was sometimes darkest.

Hmm! Guess I am going to have to re-do my signature now.

Seeing that the downloads are now available, although it's still the same version as we run in beta BOINC, maybe it's time you reworked your site, Janus. Add some links to signatures that work. ;)

Actually the SAH servers are having trouble exporting the stats. As soon as suitable sollution has been found to the problems I will start making the graphs and signatures available.

Glad to be here but not real sure as yet just where here is.
I still have the Seti Classic CLI on this box but have been running the Beta Test since last November.
I now have another option going here- in that my preferences are split between the Beta and this new SETI.
Curious to see how all this is going to work out.
I dont suppose we'll be done with surprises - seems to me there remains alot of testing ahead what with the task of melding all these elements together into a smooth running system that is reasonably idiot proof.
I may be confused about how this is all working but this box of silicon and curcuitry doesn't seem to mind.
It's cool to watch the whole process take another baby step.
Thanks to those working in developement....cc

Welcome back to the "Beta" and "Alpha" testers and welcome to the "old" Setiathome users.

Thanks for all the work that has been done by the Alpha and Beta testers as well as to the development team.

Let us all process these WU's to find out if "there is something out there".

Greeting from Belgium.
