Message 2025383 - Posted: 28 Dec 2019, 22:30:00 UTC - in response to Message 2025363.

Christmas Eve I posted:

Hi All

I haven't been very active the last couple of years or so, I thought I might fire up a box or two now that SAH has had the time to fix the software/server/WU availability issues that had been plaguing them...

The response was a thunderous silence - did I somehow offend someone?

Hi Oz,

I do believe I already know the answer to the question I'm about to post, but here goes. ;)

You aren't OzzFan are you? I haven't seen him around these parts for quite some time. The answer I believe I know is, nope. :)

Welcome back anyway. :)

Have a great day! :)

I have a number of errors on one computer, they are over a week old now and it would seem that the majority of them have not been resent to process on another computer. Itmjust be the server that is causing this problem.

Most have been resent, some haven't.
Once they get to their due date they should get resent, if they haven't been resent before then,

. . I doubt that, it's more that there are always new problems, like someone updating the server software with a buggy version, and a new series of AMD GPUs with buggy software that are spewing out faulty results.

. . Never a dull moment as the saying goes ...

AArgghh! 31 tasks turned in and nothing returned. RTS has plenty. Scheduler is taking a lunch break.

Yep. Seems to do it at least once a day, for 20min to over an hour.

Nope. When the Seti@Home server is down or hickupie often you can't post here. So we have an alternative thread for the whole website here:
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=8105 where a lot of the conversation centers around things we can try to get Seti back up (like howling at the moon and/or setting our hair on fire).

You can get advice here or we have an entire "Messages and Answers" area here devoted to basic questions: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_help_desk.php

How can we help?

Message 2025476 - Posted: 29 Dec 2019, 19:06:06 UTC

Sorta cross-post, but I posted in the "don't know where it goes?" thread about having to update ca-bundle.crt to get scheduler contacts to work again on my main machine.

Apparently the ca-bundle.crt from 2009 that shipped with 6.10.58 no longer worked. A few months ago, I resolved scheduler contacts by upgrading openssl to beyond 0.9.8o (upgraded to 1.0.2t, in this case), but I was getting SSL handshake failures again.

Just wanted to mention it here in case anyone else comes across odd stuff like that.

Uh oh. I'm seeing no tasks as well, even though there are more than 200K ready to send.

IMHO the SETI powers need to rethink about the rise of the WU limits, sometimes roll back to a lower level (something like 150 CPU +200 GPU) could help the servers stability.

. . If they can confirm that is the problem. It would be a shame though, I am liking the 300 limit :(

Is it just me or are the web pages getting sluggish.

It isn't just you... this has been noted the last time we had scheduler HTTP errors and no work errors when there was work.

I agree but after the change the system never returned to the normal, always something is happening from time to time.

If you look at the SSP each time the total WU reaches close to 23 MM something weird happening, download stalls, no new work, slow Web pages or spliting, etc. could be a hell of a coincidence of course.

Even post this msg takes a while.

Web pages were sluggish, now I have a bunch of stuck downloads with a 3+ hour project backoff for them.
