California Officials declare Ham Radio no longer a benefit; Demands Ham radio repeater infrastructure to be Removed Last month, repeater operators were sent emails telling them the State would no longer allow them to operate repeaters on public land without paying substantial rental fees. In the letter sent by CAL FIRE, the state claims Ham operators no longer provide a benefit to the state or public safety. They claimed that “constantly changing technological advances†has made Ham radio obsolete during an emergency. |

Paid $4.09/Gal/Regular at the San Ramon Exxon. (Cheapest station in Danville/San Ramon that is close to the house. (COSTCO in Concord is cheaper...)) Oh how terrible for you. Petrol is currently averaging £1.27.7 per litre here in the UK, that's equivalent to US$6.11 per US gallon. Fortunately my car runs on LPG which is currently 58p/l, or US$2.77 per US gallon. Edit: The first line refers to your fuel prices, glad your power is still on. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

The Gasoline/Petrol prices were a response to Vic. The Generac comment was to bring the Thread back in line with the Original Post about PG&E treating us here in CA like a "Third World Nation" pertaining to power outages. [EDIT:] One more on Gasoline... When my brother in Illinois can get Regular Unleaded for $2.53 to $2.63/Gal compared to me, YES - $4.09/Gal/Reg is something to complain about. Europe; however, has ALWAYS been higher priced for a Gallon of Gas. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

I got OG&E and I like to overpay my bill a bit. So I build up a bit of credit with them. So far I will be getting another bill with a balance of NONE. I showed my stepmother the bill and she jokingly called me few names wishing it was her bill. |

LADWP public owned utility, est 1902... News on TV lately? None At least until I posted it, no one can predict the future and I would wait for the cause as casting blame without facts is stupid. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

LADWP public owned utility, est 1902... News on TV lately? None I was either watching something else or taking a nap. At least I'm about 100 miles from the fires. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

LADWP public owned utility, est 1902... News on TV lately? None The fires up here have been tree caused too. The wires are not failing, trees are falling into them. PG&E is being held to blame for failing to clear the trees within reach of the wires. |

LADWP public owned utility, est 1902... News on TV lately? None Down here that tree branch magically "fell" onto the wires from 25 feet away. When wind speed gets up to hurricane strength that tree could have been a couple of city blocks away. |

LADWP public owned utility, est 1902... News on TV lately? None Put the very high voltage lines on tall pylons above tree height and lower voltage local distribution underground. As shown in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_power_transmission#System |

Watching the San Francisco local news. PG&E reports 83 lines down due to trees. Only 1 is a high voltage distribution line. |

To underground power lines it cost 5 to 35 times that of overhead power lines. Cost is the big draw back to undergrounding. Transmission lines can be put underground too but the cost is very high. ... |

Put the very high voltage lines on tall pylons above tree height and lower voltage local distribution underground.Okay. Just who is paying to dig the ditch from the house to the distribution point? Multiply that by the number of existing structures. https://www.sgvtribune.com/2015/08/26/pasadena-embezzlement-doesnt-mean-undergrounding-power-is-wrong/ |

What is the comparison costs between the higher costs to put cables underground compared to all the loss of lives, injuries and damage done, They don't dig trenches these days see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwHcjtCRVVs and there is a smaller one to bore the cable channel to properties. Transmission lines can be put underground too but the cost is very high. That's why I didn't suggest that, for the very high voltage lines. I get told frequently the costs and benefits of different power distribution systems by one of my best friends who worked for BICC as a designer, who frequently was one of the people who sat on the committees that set cable standards in the UK and Europe. He took early retirement when they were taken over, but continued on the committees until he was 65. |
