I just completed 2 tasks, so as I only had an additional 1 remaining I scheduled an update.

However this is not working... So after several attempts I reset the project. now I have no tasks at all, and its lost the 2 completed tasks...

Is the servers down currently or are there just no new tasks for us to do?

Message 2012021 - Posted: 15 Sep 2019, 11:21:42 UTC - in response to Message 2012019.

The server you need to contact to report completed work and get assigned new work - the 'Scheduler' - has gone walkabout in the last few minutes:

15/09/2019 12:13:54 | SETI@home | [http] [ID#1] Info: connect to 208.68.240.126 port 80 failed: Timed out
15/09/2019 12:13:54 | SETI@home | [http] HTTP error: Couldn't connect to server
15/09/2019 12:13:54 | SETI@home | Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server
It is not a good time of day for this to happen - 4 am in Berkeley, where the server operators live. I'm afraid we must expect this problem to last for six hours, at least.

In future, you are advised to avoid 'resetting the project', except as a last resort: it's quite a drastic action, and has no effect if the problem turns out to lie on the other side of the world. Feel free to ask questions here, before deciding on a course of action.

It's a bit past 7AM on the left coast and I still can't report the 31 uploaded tasks.
The good news is at least my cache is full.

I guess that Apache is stuck on synergy again, like last Sunday.

. . I wonder if Apache is in a union ... :)

Greetings,

Is this a case of deja vu? I am, again, out of GPU WUs, and running low on CPU WUs on my new Linux/Winders PC. Seems this same event happened this time last Sunday. :(

Have a great day! :)

I tried my usual solution: I went out the the pub (and had a very nice Sunday roast, thank you for asking). When I got back, Synergy accepted all my completed work, and rewarded all my emptiest machines with new work. It always works...

Edit - georgem and vader are feeling a bit shell-shocked just at the moment - they must have been enjoying a nice Sunday lie-in.

We need to follow the Richard route, go to the bar and have some refreshments, then return and all will be OK.

Last sunday works perfect. If no, repeat... LOL

Message 2012060 - Posted: 15 Sep 2019, 17:08:16 UTC - in response to Message 2003223.

I have 81 tasks ready to report.

In the messages tab I have "scheduler request failed: unable to connect to the server"

So I guess a mini ET is maybe gumming up the works atm ;)

hopefully tomorrow it will be back to work as normal :)

Oh dear. You're not saying I have to go and force down another Sunday roast, are you? The sacrifices I go through for this project...

Hi Juan,

Nah, I'm too old to go to bars anymore. I haven't been to one in at least 20 years. I don't drink beer anymore. :)

Have a great day! :)

In my attempt to ameliorate the situation I went down to the neighborhood pub and had a large breakfast. I think the attempt failed because I had coffee with it rather than a drink.

I always run out of cpu tasks. I could reschedule from the gpu cache if necessary or feel the need. But the gpu cache gets whittled down pretty fast even on my spoofed clients. If this Sunday outage is going to become a regular thing, I might have to increase my gpu cache on the 3 card hosts to compensate.

You have a modded client that can download bigger caches by reporting imaginary GPUs?

Yes, what we call a spoofed client.
