That explains it for me, too. When I first checked it out, I picked out the reference to 'spacecrafts' and searched directly down to that level. That's in the "Useful Links" area, so it letter-wraps When I re-checked two hours later, after Siran's comment, I only looked at the top part of the profile, and it word-wrapped. So both reports were - and still are - true. Now to go and look-see what formatting code he used to set the indent. And I see: <ul style="word-break:break-all;"><br />That seems - relevant. |

And that is exactly what DA's commit 730d1c~ changed. From word break break-all to word-break break-word. I know he said he recomposited the profile after the change, but maybe he still had that part of the profile hanging around in buffer. I would suggest clearing history and browsing data and once again revisiting that profile and trying another edit/paste to see if the change formats it differently that time. The question is - would a <ul> html tag in the middle of a profile have been introduced via the new website css styles, or as part of the (I'm presuming) offline composition of the profile by the user. Pierre, can you recall when you last updated your profile, and whether you still have an offline copy of the most recent changes? |

Pierre, can you recall when you last updated your profile, and whether you still have an offline copy of the most recent changes? The problem only occurs between the "list" and "/list" BBCodes as the removal of this BBCode fixes the problem. I never make offline compositions of my profile, I only make direct compositions using the new website CSS styles. And sorry, I don't remember or keep offline copies or time-stamped records of previous/recent changes, except I recently did save copies of the source codes with and without the problematic BBCode (if that can be useful): Debug Profile Source Nov. 14, 2018 22:37 UCT HTML https://pastebin.com/7xJFr6Vt (No "list" and "/list" BCodes, and no word-breaking problem between and outside them) Debug Profile Source Nov. 14, 2018 21:59 UCT HTML https://pastebin.com/anw6WHnC (with the "list" and "/list" BCodes, with the word-breaking problem between them - but not outside them) And that is exactly what DA's commit 730d1c~ changed. From word break break-all to word-break break-word. I know he said he recomposited the profile after the change, but maybe he still had that part of the profile hanging around in buffer. I would suggest clearing history and browsing data and once again revisiting that profile and trying another edit/paste to see if the change formats it differently that time.History and browsing data were both cleared without change to the word-breaking problem between the "list" and "/list" BBCodes That explains it for me, too. That's in the "Useful Links" area, so it letter-wraps When I re-checked two hours later, after Siran's comment, I only looked at the top part of the profile, and it word-wrapped. So both reports were - and still are - true. OK, now I am seeing it in the profile. It only occurs on the entries after "Useful Links" Only entries below that point in the profile are letter wrapping. No problems above that section in the profile. All sentences word wrap above that point. So I would say there is either a limit to the profile buffer size above a point that loses word wrapping, or there is a major shift in formatting past that point that exposes the issue still. And it's doing the same for me, now (same browser, I haven't shut it down). Maybe they fixed it already, but I'd be surprised - I only notified it at 14:15 UTC, and that's early for the upper left side. No reply, so the mystery remains. Thanks for having reported / updated the Github profile layout problem report, Richard. Apr 3, 1999 - May 3, 2020 |

Well done. Try it again now - David has made a change in, precisely, the BBcode handler for [list] tags. |

Seems to be fixed. Tried both Chrome and Firefox. Looks like DA did the work. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

That was my observation too - always nice to link up cause and effect. So, are there any more, or shall I approve the overall change for deployment across the BOINC campus? |

Hi Pierre, One thing I have found is that some of those tags don't work inside of the code display. The one I tried was the Just food for thought. I don't think it's a problem with the tags. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. That was the question I posed on Github. How many other seldom used BBCode or formatting tags are hiding and awaiting for someone to stumble upon the new code fix breaking them. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

One long term annoyance that can be fixed easily... Especially so for 'touch' devices... Note that there is zero spacing between the "Next" and "Post to thread" areas at the bottom of a thread... It is far too easy to inadvertently hit "Post" rather than the intended next/last page for a long thread... Please?! Insert some spacing before the Post button?! The "code" display is there to show code without it being activated so that others can actually see what's going on, it is not a fault. ;-) Cheers. |

I'm a Chrome user, and I see the italics test line. In italics :-) Does Firefox 63.0.1 have the ability to display the raw HTML source code that generates the visible page? If so, could somebody with the problem copy the HTML for the test block and post it as a code block here, so we can see what's going on under the hood? Edit - this is the source that Chrome receives: ITALICS TEST LINE<br /> <i>Test Line invisible with Firefox 63.0.1 on Profiles & Threads, visible with Chrome 70.0.3538.102</i><br /> END OF TEST LINE<br /> <br /> What line 4 really is : <br /> <br /> <pre style="white-space:pre-wrap; ">ITALICS TEST LINE [i]Test Line invisible with Firefox 63.0.1 on Profiles & Threads, visible with Chrome 70.0.3538.102[/i] END OF TEST LINE</pre><br />- that's taken from message 1965500. I want to die: I just found out that a Firefox add-on, uBlock Origin, was still doing cosmetic-filtering in the background, specifically killing ugly things such as... italics. The modified rule no-cosmetic-filtering: addons.about-scheme truehas fixed the problem. Firefox add-ons or extensions really can be treacherous. Github will be updated shortly, and a flying toaster to all of you who lost precious time over this pathetic affair. I'm a Chrome user, and I see the italics test line. In italics :-) Apr 3, 1999 - May 3, 2020 |
