But the industry news also is that Samsung is pulling production offline to bolster the spot RAM prices. Yep, and even with that prices have dropped, and are expected to drop further (at least for now). Grant Darwin NT |

OK, thanks. My wish list is the 2080 with the Hydro Copper block. Still bemused that EVGA still hasn't had the Hybrid Turing cards show up yet. MSI has had their SeaHawk Hybrid out for quite a while now. EVGA Hydro Copper blocks are up for all 2080/2080 ti's, at least....cards will probaly come later. EK has blocks up for cards with the reference PCB. EVGA announced that hybrid kits and cards should come online mid to late November (probably for pre-order). I'm not holding my breath on that one ;-) Looks like EVGA will not release any hybrid versions until they have versions for both the 2080 and the 2080 Ti. MSIs hybrid version for 2080 ti is a ways off, too. Humans may rule the world...but bacteria run it... |

Hi Tom, There is a hidden folder in Windows called "ProgramData". Use the menu command "View" to make it visible. c:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\setiathome You are looking for anything that says "SOG" and "Readme". You should find a commandline like this in the doc "-sbs 192 -spike_fft_thresh 2048 -tune 1 64 1 4" if you do, you have the right one :) The doc talks about certain parameters that might cause system laggy response. You should put that command line in what is probably an empty file text file that starts with "mb_commandline...SoG.txt Then restart the boinc manager. You should put that command line in what is probably an empty file text file that starts with "mb_commandline...SoG.txt If you use the command line file, there is no need to exit or restart BOINC. The next WU that starts processing will use the values in that file once you've save it. Grant Darwin NT |

Hi Tom, Hi Tom, Wow! Ok, thanks for this. I will have to do this later this morning. I never took the Evelyn Wood speed reading course. lol ;) I'm a slow reader. I found the correct file and saw some of the things you said to look for. I didn't see anything about lag though, which is why I need to slow read the file. lol I'll let you know what I end up with. See if you can find a parm called "-hp" :) A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

If you really want to understand what all the parameters mean and do, then read Raistmer's posts in the Lunatics forum where he explains in great detail exactly how they work. Hi Tom, I edited the blank "mb_cmdline-8.22...SoG.txt file and inserted this: -sbs 192 -spike_fft_thresh 2048 -tune 1 64 1 4 -period_iteration_num 45 I saw the "-hp" parameter in the readme file and it does not seem to be something I want to use, unless I misunderstood what I read. The parameter "-period_iteration_num" I have increased from 20, which I read was the default value. I increase it by 5 about every half hour or so and am not seeing a lot of change, yet. I think I see some change, but not much. At the end of the readme file was a section for NVIDIA GPUs and the 3 suggested parameters, so I added them with the default values. This lag was why I didn't run WUs on the old NVIDIA GPU on my i7 4771 system. But if I can reduce the lag to something I can accept then I'll continue with my 1050Ti. Hi Keith, Thanks for that. After reading it I changed the value of "-period_iteration_num" to 500 just for grins. I assume that since he says the "-tt" is default 15, I left it. I did this per his example. I will decrease the first if I see performance go down the tubes. I'd rather accept a little lag and have better performance. ;) Thanks and have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. If you are dealing with severe lag, increasing the period_iterations will help. You can also reduce the -tt tag. You can also use the -sleep tag which will have the greatest effect in reducing lag. Read the docs on -sleep in Raistmers post at Lunatics to understand what it does. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Read the docs on -sleep in Raistmers post at Lunatics to understand what it does. I'm getting ready to make a store run right now so I'll have to do that when I get back. One other thing, that command line file stays in the folder it is in, correct? Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Yes, the command line or any app_config file is only for the specific project folder it applies to. So it stays in the seti project folder. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

I still can't understand why you're getting lag. My system running 3* GTX 750Tis with the same settings I use for my GTX 1070s has no lag at all using the iGPU for video output. It could be a difference between using the Lunatics & Stock applications, but given the stock application's main difference is improved performance and system responsiveness on lower end hardware I can't see why that would be the case. I have 2 cpus in my system crunching seti WUs, why is my max 100 WUs?? shouldn't it be 100 per cpu?? shouldn't I get up to 200 WUs for the machine? |
