I just got my internet connection back proper after a month of hideous house moving to find the SETI forum looks rather different, Is it me, my browser settings, or has the SETI forums now submitted to that 'midnight hacker shade' theme? It looks a little dev'y, prog'y.. like. Sublime Textish, Code Blockish. ish.. Pale coffee and blueberry hot pockets. Sorry I am just surprised. .. but then I have a new abode so a new forum colour scheme might be apt. Anyway it's like coming home to see the family has repainted or re-imagined the living room. Someone snook in and redecorated. This might take a little bit of getting used to. (Are there any other real operational or value changes we should be aware of. Or is it just a thematic visual change?) ;o) |

I posted a picture in thread Weather Forecasts IX Not Another Ice Age Please, that was 3130x3130, the pic was rescaled to 1100x1100, which is nice. At least on My screen the pic is 1100x1100, this site has never had that ability in the past. Beyond that I don't know. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Site was hijacked by DA. Eric had nothing to do with it. Except the hyperlinks. That was his idea. |

Is there a way to switch off this mocha-choca theme on the forum? Visually it is quite disturbing :( I don't know what people with 'colour (blindness?) issues might feel but for me it's highly distractive. How do I switch it off and go back to better contrast or choose my own scheme? Even the fonts now look downloaded and fuzzy... In normal internet parlance this is a prelude to telling us our browsers are no longer supported. Is BOINC about to drop support for XP or poor people's PC's? ? |

1. Increase your font size if you have not done so already, otherwise No. 2. Switch off, No. 3. If you use Firefox there is an extension that might work by inverting the colors used here, YMMV. 4. It's just the colors picked by someone, We users have very little control over this. 5. No, the browsers are all as supported as ever. 6. Drop support for XP? I doubt it. Is there a way to switch off this mocha-choca theme on the forum? I use FF with an addon called Color That Site! the colours can be changed almost back to old and FF itself can override the text seen. Cheers. |

Is there a way to switch off this mocha-choca theme on the forum? cRunchy, Go here: 12-3-2016 Instructions for Color-That-Site. Once you've completed following the instructions I've set out, you'll be 99% back to the way the Forums used to be. You may need to modify several Forum Pages, (including your PM Inbox Page), before the whole Site gets back to "normal". If/when you modify your PM Inbox Page, be warned that the Post Drafting Box will be inverted to Black Background and White Text; but, the rest of the Forum will be White/Light Gray Background with Black Text and Blue Links like we used to have... Good luck, feel free to PM me with any questions. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

There ya go Crunchy a link on how to do it. What we do need now is a similar work round for MS exploder users as well. The solution to that is simple: quit using it. The last I knew, even MS itself had deprecated it. Was it really beyond the wit of these people to have had a simple login page that said click here if you use a desktop or here if you use a handheld device. Both colour schemes would be fed with the same background data, it wouldn't have meant two separate websites to update. Many sites have a mobile version and the regular site automatically detects mobile devices and diverts them to the mobile site. I used to really like Netscape Navigator but it lost out in the browser wars of the late 1990's and early 21C, and my company banned its use! I used Netscape from my start on the 'net until the end. That's when somebody, I believe here on Seti, turned me on to Seamonkey, which I have used ever since. It still has the email client included. If you liked Netscape, try Seamonkey. Meowmonkey.
