Hi Team, I'm running SETI@home as "stock" on a Mac under OS X 10.11.2 with Boinc Manager v7.6.22 I got these errors messages each time BM is requesting new tasks from SETI (even after a project restart): Jeu 7 jan 14:21:54 2016 | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU and Intel GPU Jeu 7 jan 14:21:56 2016 | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 2 new tasks Jeu 7 jan 14:21:56 2016 | SETI@home | [error] No app version found for app setiathome_v8 platform x86_64-apple-darwin ver 802 class ; discarding 04au15ab.26797.6202.8.35.213.vlar_1 Jeu 7 jan 14:21:56 2016 | SETI@home | [error] No app version found for app setiathome_v8 platform x86_64-apple-darwin ver 802 class ; discarding 04au15ab.26797.6202.8.35.215.vlar_0 Jeu 7 jan 14:27:03 2016 | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Thanks by advance for the update, Georges |

I'm getting the same errors as GPV67. I say it is best to just wait it out. It will probably be fixed soon. I'm running OS X "Tiger" on a Core Duo (not Core2Duo) and all has been fine until now.. Plus SETI Classic = 21,082 WUs |

Is the bug on BM client side or SETI servers side? Server side. I've already reported it up the chain. It would appear that instead of v8.02, Macs (still?) get a v8.01 app sent with v8.02 designated work. So that work is discarded. The bad thing though is that this isn't reported back to the server, so all work you appear to have in progress... shows as in progress, even when it has been discarded from your computer. |

Maybe that's something that should be reported back up the other side of the reporting chain, to the BOINC devs - especially since David is taking more of an active role wearing his software architect hat at SETI these days. |

Thanks for everybody's work on this! I'm curious if the minimum requirements have changed (sse/etc) compared to the old apps. Also, are the workunits shorter (or just more efficient?)? Mine were previously like 4 hours vs the new ones are more like 1 hour. |

All was working great fro the last few days, but now all I get is Thu Jan 7 13:50:16 2016 | SETI@home | [error] No app version found for app setiathome_v8 platform x86_64-apple-darwin ver 802 class ; discarding 05au15ab.8238.514840.8.35.22.vlar_1 |

There is no reason to uncheck v7. There is still a lot of tasks out there that were split with v7, and have to be processed by v7. It will likely be months before they all work though the system. |

David Anderson wrote: This has always been the client behavior. True, but not exactly relevant. Should I send him a copy of my cautionary tale about software development? |

Looks like my FreeBSD machines, which have v7, are running out of work. My BOINC manager is saying I don't have a useable version. Would have been nice if both versions were supported a while, so that various OS users could have time to get new versions. Keep moving forward I say! :-) Hopefully the FreeBSD port will be updated soon for version 8. |

Since I don't have millions of credits and am not in the inner circle I am not allowed to joke with you Apple guys. I have no raccoons, stripper pictures, or personal attacks (like to me in private, so I returned the favor to them) to post like you guys do. But I still have my same question: I don't want to run v7 any more. It is not accurate. If I uncheck v7 will it automatically switch to v8? |

But I still have my same question: If you do not run an "optimised app" like "lunatics" or do not have an "app_info" file, then you need to do nothing as V8 will automatically be added. If you look at your preferences for the project you will see there is an entry for SETI@Home V8 set to yes. If you use a GPU then currently there is no V8 work available you will just have to wait along with everyone else As your computers are hidden I cannot really help you further than that. |

try out some SETi@home BETA... Which is helping that user exactly how, when the project releases work associated with the wrong science application? |

Hi folks, Mac OS X issue was solved with seti@home version 8.03 published today. Crunching is working well now. As I own Mac with INTEL GPU and NVIDIA GPU i'm waiting for seti@home v8 GPUs apps. Cheers, Georges |

try out some SETi@home BETA... The problem wasn't with the inner workings of the science application, which is what the alpha and beta testing is for. v8.01 was a working science application, but the graphics_app was not labeled as executable due to a typo. Eric then rereleased v8.01 as v8.02 by fixing the xml_doc in the database, but without building a new v8.02 application. Which resulted in BOINC trying to do the v8.02 named tasks with the v8.01 application still on their system, and that doesn't work. Which BOINC then responds to as deleting the affected tasks. Had this happened at Beta, the exact same thing would've happened: discarding of the tasks by BOINC. But there is no problem with the science app, as v8.03 shows now on the majority of the Macintosh computers. |

Hi folks, I received the new 803 app but I am getting (and erroring out) PPC tasks instead of Intel (i686) tasks. I am running OS X "Tiger" on a CoreDuo (not Core 2 Duo) machine. No rush, as I am sure that this is a very low priority problem. I just thought I would let you know. Plus SETI Classic = 21,082 WUs |
