And someone writing the documentary, manual and wiki. I haven't had much time yet the past weeks, hope to do better this weekend. :)

Ah...didn't see a line for that on the chart. I guess the target #results, then, would be 1. ;^)

Hey Jeff, do you need help testing on a AMD 4200, and 750Ti?

The only testing I did was specific to the actual Stderr truncations and the "fix" that was added to BOINC v7.6.6. I think my testing, and that of the others who were specifically focused on that aspect, went fine. The broader testing for v7.6.6 is what's going on over at BOINC Alpha, which I'm not involved in.

I'm not on the chart. Or at least, this isn't.
With the whole GUI contents of 7.6 changed over the documentation/manual needs to be rewritten. I'd started on this over 8 weeks ago, but personal stuff got very much in the way. So maybe that I manage to finish this tomorrow.

Main differences between client 7.6.6 and previous is that the menu layouts have changed somewhat, things are in different places, and a few new tools have been added.

LOL, you think I don't know? Oh and changed somewhat doesn't cover it, though.

Going from a File,View, Tools, Activity, Advanced, Help menu to a File, View, Activity, Options, Tools, Help menu requires all new screen shots with rewritten descriptions of everything.

What was before a one wizard Add Project & Account Manager, has split into two separate wizards, which both need their own screen shots and descriptions. All of the new windows and wizards need their own screen shots and descriptions.

The local simple preferences and menu have changed as well.

Now in the Wiki, that's two separate pages for the preferences/local preferences, which need to be merged into one page and still make sense. While all menu items of the BOINC Manager simple and advanced views which comprise three pages these days, have to be rewritten, new images added, and all the new entries added and explained.

All of the mouse-over descriptions have changed as well, and the local advanced preferences are now equal to the web-preferences, including their mouse-over descriptions and behaviour. Some of the preferences have gone missing or have their usage changed.

And then that needs to be done without disrupting the present pre-7.6 pages, as those are still needed to explain everything about the old Manager(s).

Yup, changed somewhat. ;-D

Sorry, Jord. Didn't mean to demean the challenges of the change in documentation. I didn't even think of the new screenshots needed, that is a consuming task. Not just a few new paragraphs I see. We appreciate your work.

I know you didn't mean bad, but wanted to explain anyway. :)

I was well on my way with everything up to two months ago, but then the situation with my mom's health deteriorated and I had lots of days that I needed to be with attention to her. After working to get things done for your mom for 20-60 hours, and that for 4 weeks straight, I can tell you you don't want to be at the keyboard for much else than some gaming and light banter. BOINC is light banter these days. Seti is even lighter. :-)

Sorry to hear about your Mom. Wish her well. I went through the same thing a few years ago with both my parents, both gone now. The trivialities of life go onto the back burner when the needs of those who brought you into this world come back into sharp focus. Take care.

Well that sucks.
I can't remember how long ago it was I moved from the v6 to the v7 manager, but even now I'm still not quite used to having to go to the Advanced tab to get the Event log up. And one or two other things I don't use often, but it takes me a while to find them when I do because they're not where I think they are (or should be).
But if it sorts out the Stderr truncation errors I figure it'll be worth the renewed confusion/frustration of trying to re-find things.

Well, that was one of my first grumblings..... where the heck did they put the Error Log. Second, was where the heck did they put the Shut Down Client. After some use now and the development of some new muscle memory, I sort of like the menu categories, makes a lot of sense to me with the new layout. Overall, I don't think as much an upheaval as the transition from BOINC 6 to BOINC 7.

Another stderr truncation error.
Time to install the latest BOINC version & see if it does help.

Should do. As has been stated here at some point, the workarounds are non-ideal (for fairly unrelated reasons), but it should be quite rugged out to some pretty extreme conditions, in which case you would have other more urgent problems to worry about.

Almost the end of October, and I haven't seen a truncated stderr since installing the current BOINC version.
Well done & good job on the fix/work around.
Thanks to all involved.
