I'm wondering if going the upgrade route from pro[upgrade] to corp retail
might be a way to go.

Or if MS will make an iso image available for upgraders..

I'm still reluctant to allow the upgrade to go ahead on my crunchers..

I did read somewhere, that an ISO would be available in the 1st month. Not sure though.

After reading your reply, I thought I would Google it to find out for sure. I found a contradictory answer at this location Probably should have Googled it to begin with but didn't think to. Let's hope what I found on CNET is correct. :)

One other thought that just came to me: They should just eliminate the 32bit OSs altogether, if they haven't done so already... ;)

I do have one question - Currently on my Win7 Pro (x64), I'm running BOINC 7.6.6 w/Lunatics. Is anyone running Win 10 Pro (x64) w/ NVIDIA driver greater than 347.88? If so did you have to do anything concerning the bool_2 situation and how did you solve it?

While I'm sure to upgrade my Surface 3 Tablet, my desktop will probably remain Win 7 for the foreseeable future. The feature loss through the upgrade isn't terrible, I simply don't wish to deal with them until MS works out the kinks.

I seem to have received an Intel CPU microcode update via Windows update on my Win7x64/sp1 main dev host. Am yet to look at the other near identical machine ( Core2Duo) that has Win10TP on it. Don't know which processor models that might be targeted at, but seems like it could well be ms and Intel working on the kindof kinks that come before a big release. Fortunately my ancient Core2Duo *seems* pretty rock solid (and quick) with it. Fingers crossed they don't turn on the bloat :D

Just tonight, unexpectedly, via windows updates (critical IIRC), since I already applied all 17 patches from black tuesday. I'll dig out the kb# in a bit.

Another gripe seems to be its getting offered to AMD-based machines as well.

mmm, yeah did look different and interesting, which is why I mentioned it. No problems here apparently. No boot after a microcode injection sounds like maybe some genuine failures, others OC'd to the hilt, and more running something with super secret stuff that took advantage of whatever wekness. It'll be interesting to see what comes out in the media.

Hmmm I got a critical update to all 3 of my systems last night, followed by an important one this morning. The critical last night all seemed to go OK. Not so today...

The 2 Win 7 Intel systems running S@H upgraded OK (& needed a reboot),

The AMD Win 8.1 laptop, seemed to install OK,& shut down OK, but just sat at a blank screen after coming out of POST & BIOS for about 25 Mins, & wouldn't respond to any kets except the long hold on the power button. When I rebooted it, it did the same so I pulled power and the battery, then tried to restart & this time it went into the recovery mode, so I selected to roll back to last night. This went OK.

Win update then offered the important update again, so I tried again. This time it seemed to go in OK, but the blank screen only lasted about 2 or 3 mins after the reboor this time. The laptop seems OK for now. normally on boot the "blank" screen only lasts about 3 or 5 seconds.

Sorry for the long story, but I wanted to be complete.

Hi,
Critical update was to fix bug relating to fonts that would allow remote control of users computer. Bug came to light after recent hack of company dealing with spyware for assorted Govts..

I've had my rigs get it, no problems after reboot on AMD rigs.
BTW that's the 2nd font related bug to be patched..
