Yeah, I dunno. Now I have 388.13 running OK on both Xeons, but no matter what I do I get run GPU work on the C2Q. Anybody know how to trigger resends? All my work now shows abandoned, due to having to rebuild a credentials file. ![]() ![]() |

If the tasks are marked as Abandoned for your machine, I don't think there is anything you can do. I use the ghost recovery protocol all the time when the work gets lost between SETI and here but that is a different case. The December 2017 update corrupted one or more of the databases concerning system updates that my machine has become non-effective. The corruption(s) cannot be fixed via the 'Troubleshooter', and it can take from 1- 3 hrs. to recycle the machine. Even the system restore, prior to the initial update attempt did not work correctly as it recycled the machine @ 00:15 this morning, and at 02:30 it was still attempting to shutdown, but was up this morning when I signed op at 08:20. I will be off-line for at least 24 hrs, as I attempt to do a complete clean re-install of the system. ![]() ![]() I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

After the last patch update Windows 10 does not recognize my EVO lector which I used to read my health card provided by the National Health Service. It cannot find the driver. All the rest seems to be Ok. Tullio |

Ahhhhhhh, the joys of M$. My tablet has not yet succumbed and it's the only device i own running 10. Both 8.1 and 7 seem stable after the latest round. ![]() "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Regarding Windows 10 Creators Fall Update I just luv the new "controlled folder access" in Windows Defender. To quote "Apps determined by Microsoft as friendly are always allowed". So why if I turn controlled folder access on is Internet Explorer blocked from updating its config settings? |

Regarding Windows 10 Creators Fall Update I just luv the new "controlled folder access" in Windows Defender. To quote "Apps determined by Microsoft as friendly are always allowed". So why if I turn controlled folder access on is Internet Explorer blocked from updating its config settings? Probably because they're pushing for people to use Edge. And because web sites and browsers are one of the main infection vectors attackers use by getting people to click on things they shouldn't. Grant Darwin NT |

I thought Internet Exploder went away with 10? Thank GOD, it's still hanging around as Win 10 will install both (backward compatability). I use PC Matic as my anit-virus software and when I go to their website I can't use some of the tools using Edge, so IE 11 comes in very handy. I also have a problem with my HP 6968 Officejet Pro printer not being able to print interent pages, so I use IE for that also. ![]() ![]() I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

I have divorced myself from as many M$ apps as possible. I prefer Open Office, Firefox and other software over anything the girls and boys in Redmond offer. ![]() "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Amazed here at how much better FF 57 is over previous FF 56, and any version FF beats M$ browsers. As for Open Office, it's ok, though Calc is pretty weak and clunky compared to Excel for power users. Half the stuff I used to do on Excel either can't be done or take twice the effort on Calc. Talking specifically about the setup and formatting tools, and their ease of use. ![]() ![]() |

My only M$ software is the OS: Win7 Pro 64bit. That's only because it's a pain in the you-know-what to try to get Windoze programs to run in Wine on Linux. I swear by Firefox. Started using it when it first came out and haven't looked back. Oh, I have tried others: Opera, Chrome (hate it with a passion), that browser put out by Apple (cannot remember it's name), and when I tried Win10 I tried Edge. Back to Win7 and Firefox I went. Agree, FF latest is a vast improvement in speed and a world above Exploder. My desktops both run Window$ 8.1 with little problem except 'Mail', what a useless P.O.S. I have to log into Outlook to save or send images and half the time I get a "XXX@msn is currently unavailable" when I'm just dumping my junk mail. I also have email through Gmail and Xfinity but each have other problems. ![]() "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

And the latest and greatest 'Creator$ Update' has rendered the stylus on my $urface Tablet inoperative in Firefox. Probably another wrench thrown into the workings of Mozilla by the boy$ and girl$ in Redmond..... ALL HAIL MICRO$OFT! ![]() "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

And the latest and greatest 'Creator$ Update' has rendered the stylus on my $urface Tablet inoperative in Firefox. Hey JE, Don't you know? Micro$oft can do as they damn well please since they are answerable to no one. Contrary to them putting out security updates, they don't care about us little people. They are above ALL on this ball of rock called Earth. Window$ 10 and their revised EULA, taking away our freedom to use Class Actions, did that for them. Is this something long and old that is newly coming into prominence? Why this special article just now?... How To Fix The 'Page Fault In Nonpaged Area' Error In Windows 10 The Windows 10 error "Page Fault In Nonpaged Area" usually results in a BSOD and can be quite frustrating to troubleshoot.
