Well this is horrific. Chicago, isn't that where Obama got his political start? Sounds about like Bill Cosby and date rape. Multiple accusers and more coming forward every day. Just add in some asset forfeiture laws and now you have a full story of corruption. Time will tell how much they are able to cover up. |

But the worry is Glenn, that if too many US big cities go bust, then the US goes bust, followed by the rest if the world ..... It can't all be down to the sub-prime mortgage business. No it isn't. It is down to greedy politicians who refuse to use accrual accounting and insist on cash accounting, all so they can spend the money this year that should be earmarked for next year. Ask the old GM about their pension plan. |

It can't all be down to the sub-prime mortgage business. Yes it can Chris from what i understand about why the G.F.C was so bad it was because of the sub prime market . The derivative market is dangerous , it's like a pyramid scheme , one goes belly up then they all go belly up and that is what actually happened . One bank got into trouble and that caused a ripple effect as everyone was exposed to bigger and bigger dept . Even local councils got into the act . While it was good the towns made money but once it went bad the whole thing came crushing down. The U.S tresuray where warned that if they did not bail the bank out with a 30 billion $ bail out then they would all fall . But the U.S tresuary where worried only about B/S . "if we bail them out then it will set a presedent for other company's " Instead of realizing what would happen . They had the chance to bail out the bank and just put stringent conditions on the bail out that would have told others to do the right thing or you will lose control of your company and we'll take it over and then sell it off to the highest bidder once we get our money back . 30 billion would have been chump change compeard to what it has ended up costing them , 5 trillion and counting . Just so you know how big it was . 16 trillion was lost world wide and that is a conservative estimate |

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-32859763 Ah yes. Let off because they couldn't prove his bullet killed. Seems I remember some other case, hum ........ scratch ...... ah yes ...... Leslie Van Houten Claims to have only stabbed the victims after they were dead, which would have been manslaughter. Got a different result in that trial. Could there be bias to police? |

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-32859763 It is better to let ten guilty men walk than convict one innocent man BTW: I don't believe the Judge's verdict was correct. Shocked? No. Most cops have some point where they know the actions become so repugnant they no longer can accept the blue code. Been in similar situations. The initial Police Gunfire was legal. Don't care how many shots were fired. All persons, including Police, are reacting individually, upon the same stimulus. I wonder if Miss Van Houten should appeal based on this case? Might wake up one judge in Ohio to his action. Also seems to be some nasty error on the prosecution to have not included a bunch of lesser charges from manslaughter all the way down to desecration of a corpse so there would have been something to convict on. I can hardly wait to hear the union saying he is innocent and demanding he be put back on patrol. |

A Swedish criminolog Leif GW Persson Estimates that about 10% of all convicted are innocent. "The right to be right." https://translate.google.se/translate?sl=sv&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=sv&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.expressen.se%2Fkronikorer%2Fleif-gw-persson%2Fleif-gw-persson-ratt-ska-vara-ratt%2F&edit-text= It's roughly one hundred and fifty people currently serving life imprisonment in this country. All convicted of murder, and unfortunately about a dozen of them are innocent. Criminologist and author Leif GW Persson wants to start a competing business to the police. - A gigantic private detective burau that recruit the very best investigators available, he says in tonight's Primetime. And here is Leif GW:) He has also a popular TV show called "Wanted" with real cases. https://translate.google.se/translate?hl=sv&sl=sv&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.expressen.se%2Fnyheter%2Fgws-plan-starta-egen-polisstyrka%2F |

It is better to let ten guilty men walk than convict one innocent man Maybe it needs to be at the front of every squad room. Seems to be what every jaded police officer forgets. |

Just a bit of perspective on how we judge risk. Garbage collectors are more likely to die on the job than police patrol officers Reality Internet Personality |

Just a bit of perspective on how we judge risk. Yes Myth and Realties are two completly different things. Loggers seems to die often in the job in accidents. On the other hand there more police officers then there are loggers. |

Still don't understand. Do you? So explain this in a mature manner with no "shallow assertions"... "The photo was taken in a police station on the West Side of Chicago sometime between 1999 and 2003. The Chicago Police Department successfully kept it hidden from the public until a judge refused to keep it under seal and the Chicago Sun-Times pulled a copy from a court filing." |

When you see these things it sort of makes you think , is it safe to go to the states ? I've only been to the US once, Florida when i was seven, and in those ten days two people got shot in the hotel room next to ours and we were escorted out of a mall by police after we'd wandered into a 'black' shopping mall. Land of the free... Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |
