Morsi, was elected. He will not go quietly.

Just heard from a colleague who was due in Egypt tomorrow - we will be seeing him in the office instead as his travel insurance was cancelled, as were his tickets and the meeting he was due to have tomorrow. All at the request of host hosts within the Egyptian Government who aren't quite sure they will have jobs by time his meeting was due tomorrow. (They were paying for his visit and had arranged it all)

The people my colleague was going to see aren't in jobs any more so their call on cancelling the meeting was a "good call". It certainly brings the severity of the Egyptian socio-political situation home when it affects ones work in the UK.

I think that the Army stepped up to the plate this time to head off more unrest. If whats his face had had a real hand on the militray to start with they would have tried to crush any protests.

May i draw your attention to this:

In view of continued unrest and the evolving political situation in Egypt, the FCO advise against all but essential travel to the rest of Egypt except for resorts on the Red Sea in South Sinai and those resorts on the Egyptian mainland in Red Sea governorate (including Hurghada). Enhanced security measures are in place to protect the resort areas. There have been no violent protests in the South Sinai resorts during recent disturbances in Egypt.

Anyway who knows, a terrorist attack might liven things up!
