Message 1173089 - Posted: 22 Nov 2011, 23:22:43 UTC - in response to Message 1173085.

Still can't report.

Just tried reporting to see if I could get a recognisable error message that was worth telling the project about.

Got acknowledgement of successful report for all 24 tasks instead.

All 3 of my rigs have reported in but I have noticed that the connection lately after the weekly outage has been very slow to pick up speed.

Cheers.

I tried to report, but couldn't. The GPU's are bone dry again. Has anyone heard if the DCF issues is still going to be fixed, or has it been determined to leave it alone? The cricket graphs are not really showing much of anything yet, but I'm sure that will change shortly.

I'd like to know about that DCF issue as well. Maybe someone can give us an update?

They were reminded, but this week the staff are already beginning to disperse to their family homes for the USA Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday. So we drew another blank, I'm afraid.

Looks like the same as last week, the server is hearing us but with the larger reports it is unable to process and answer the report before we time out.

Both my other machines have reported and one has got work, but they are in the sub 400 RAC grade.

And I suppose we have no flippin' clue what went wrong during this weeks outage?

SSP updating pattern looks much like last week.
Might be the same issue (whatever it was)
Some reporting seems to be working, beta appears to be down.

I wouldn't really trust the SSP but validators are working.

'just' the download side dead.

edit: not quite dead. a tiny trickle of work appears to be still going out.

All 4 server URLs are reachable for my machine.

BOINC ask for fresh WUs, but the S@h-scheduler don't give any.
Project has no tasks available

If I click online in my computers overview to tasks, nothing happens, or after a few minutes the overview appears. DB things are very slow currently.

So maybe this are the normal problems after the weekly maintenance (just longer) - or we have bigger problem.

I wonder if this is still related to the database record size change...
Have we gotten confirmation if that conversion is really completed yet?

One of my machines has NO Seti work in progress. I haven't looked at it physically lately, but its last contact time does not correspond to any of the reported times of the work it finished recently, so it must have asked for more work and been refused. This would be why it downloaded a boatload of Einsteins this morning.

My good machine has 576 Seti in progress, vs. a usual 700-800, on a six day cache setting. (One is an AP.) It also has some Einstein.

I am also finding web pages very slow to load, particularly my stats, and the cricket graph this morning looks like the skin of a seasick crocodile.

(Anybody outside the US get that reference? How many inside?)

The Grinch has made an early visit to the Seti server closet.....

Just moved some GPU work over to the CPUs so they stay warm. If things don't get booted upright today the kitties will be traipsing over to Einstein to keep the GPUs happy for awhile again.

Confirmation? that would be a novum :D Not here in any case. There was some indication of additional rummaging in/after last weeks maintenance.
Anyway you can't know if you've found all bugs. Just because none are screaming in your face, doesn't mean one hasn't been lying low for over two years and suddenly decides to bite.

Oh, I rather thought that given the enormity of the conversion, there would be some niggling little forgotten places that the problem would be embedded in that would arise as time went on...

I was just wondering if they THOUGHT they had completed the conversion....LOL.

And we're baaaaack.
Starting up, anyway.
Reporting back online....not much in the way of work going out yet.
But hopefully that will start up as things sort.

Could be, but I'm mainly seeing quite a bit of work not being validated....the results are in but not very much else is happening, in my case. Probably quite a few others, too, I suspect. Not much work being dished out, either.

The network graphs are showing traffic, but every request my machines make results in "Project has no tasks available" messages. Even this early after an outage i'd expect to get some work on some requests, not no work on all.

Ya gotta remember that you are one of many thousands of users requesting work....
It's the luck of the draw to hit the scheduler when there happens to be work ready to issue in the feeder cache.
I have been getting a few hits across 8 rigs, sometimes with only 1 WU issued, sometimes with a small handful at a time.
But many misses as well.
After the outage, it will take some time to settle again.
