Like many people I originally participated in SETI Classic some years ago. Having gone through my career, various PCs etc with some employers allowing SETI and others not, I rejoined SETI a few years ago. I was recently able to link my old Classic account (5 WU!) to my BOINC total and discovered I first participated on 27 July 1999. That's pretty early in SETI-terms. How many of we early users are still around? Am I one of thousands from the first few months who is still contributing, or one of dozens? Grateful for any feedback or advice - Kind regards Preston Kind regards - Preston http://allprojectstats.com/s2202443x15a.png |

In the Number Crunching form they have a 10 year club that has many of the users from 1999 in there. I too am 1999, but I had 2 accounts, the 1999 had 0 Classic crunched while this one had several Classic crunched. Since I could only use one, I used the one that had credits. ![]() |

Hey, we’re almost in the same “classâ€: just one day apart! You can see how the rest of your cohort is doing on some of the stats sites, for which you’ll find links on your Account page. For example, here you are in the class of 1999-07-27 on BOINCstats. Of the 348 users who signed up that day, it appears that about a hundred are still contributing. ![]() |

Does September 1999 count as an early contributor? ![]() |

I started in 2001. Not quite as early as you though. Was offline for awhile but back now. Regards, Tbone00 |

Hi everyone - Thank you for all your interesting feedback and kind information. I'm surprised and delighted to find that there are so many of us early users still active. Very special thanks to Odysseus for the info you provided on my signup & relative results. I'm not brilliant at interrogating databases but it's fun to see your own data following my signup 10 years ago. I'll keep running SETI as long as it's around or until someone (?) hears back from a little green man & we call it quits.....? Let's just all carry on crunching.....! Kind regards Preston Kind regards - Preston http://allprojectstats.com/s2202443x15a.png |

I think I'm tied for the earliest sign-up here. Mine might be the first day that Seti@home opened to the public. I had been watching the project for a year or more while it was being developed, and I'm pretty sure I signed on as soon as it opened. If not the first day, then very soon afterwards. I crunched some 2,290 WUs for SETI before switching to BOINC. Mike Want to find one of the largest known primes? Try PrimeGrid. Or help cure disease at WCG. ![]() |

I'm still here, too. I'll keep plugging away. Things have changed a lot over the years. I still like the original graphic screensaver better than the one in use now. ![]() Plus SETI Classic = 21,082 WUs |

I just joined the 10-year-club 2 days ago! And yes, I agree, the old screensaver was much better, but no screensaver is best for crunchtimes. ;) "Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and a comedy for those who think." "I never get into an argument that I cannot win." ![]() |
