Here it is, straight from the weather office's mouth. Warnings Québec 8:39 PM EST Sunday 21 December 2008 Severe wind warning for Québec continued The northeast winds will reach 90 km/h this evening near the river between Québec and Montmagny. These conditions will move toward the Gaspésie early tonight and extreme eastern Québec late in the night. The snow and the blowing snow affecting southwestern Québec have practically ended as the low pressure system responsible is dying just southwest of Outaouais. A second low pressure system in development over the east american seaboard will intensify while moving toward the Gulf of St Lawrence. The snow, winds locally severe feeding the blowing snow are expected over the regions more to the east. Québec 8:39 PM EST Sunday 21 December 2008 Blowing snow warning for Québec continued The strong easterly winds will develop today in the St Lawrence Valley and overnight over the regions of the gulf. The combination of snow and strong winds will cause blowing snow, giving near zero visibilities. Québec 8:39 PM EST Sunday 21 December 2008 Snowfall warning for Québec continued Accumulations of 15 to 20 cm are expected generally over these regions. These accumulations could reach 25 cm locally in mountain regions near the Maine and of the New Brunswick. Having a fireplace makes small storms like these almost fun. Then comes the shoveling :(. mambo |

The ground, concrete, etc, absorbs solar heat during the day which it dumps into the air when darkness falls, bumping the temperature up a couple degrees. As soon as that is done (usually no more than an hour or two) the temperature drops. BBBBRrrrrr! Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

And the ground around here acts like concrete, except when wet, then It's pliable. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

And I thought it was due to Global Warming :-) Temps at my place for the last 2 days have been 40C (104F) during the day dropping to a chilly 21C (70F) at night <grin>. Rain is predicted for some time in the next 12 months It's night time now in Central Australia. A few little clouds and the red dust across the face of the waning moon make for a very picturesque scene. Brodo |

It's supposed to start snowing tonight, continuing thru Tuesday, then take a break and start again. Looks like a white Christmas is pretty much guaranteed. But hopefully not too white. JM7, if you're reading this along your route, it only gets worse as you go north, so be careful. Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |
