Greeting!

Things have been happening on my side and I have been looking for ways to minimize my spending in just about every way I can. Therefore, I have had to shut down my 3 crunchers since about a month ago and have realized a further saving in my electric bill.

Though I will crank up one of them occasionally just to look up something on the Internet, it will not be long enough to crunch and return even one WU in time.

Many thanks to everyone who has helped me in the past with questions I have had here.

When things get better, I might just be back here crunching again. Who knows, by then computers might look very different…

So without further ado, I bid all of you happy crunching and Happy Holidays!

So sad to see you leave......but do what you must....maybe once in a blue moon, you could leave the rig on long enough to send a WU on occasion....just so's you could still drop in and say hello to us.....

Take care......

Best Regards,

Mark and the kitties........

Your fastest PC Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz can process average tasks in under 1 hour. The deadline for those tasks is around 3 weeks. The tasks checkpoint every minute. So you should be able to keep at least one cruncher running, even if you do not run it more than 20 minutes/day it will still get 2 WU's done every 3 days.

Hope you keep limited crunching.

Keith.

And you may not be saving as much as you think. On my bill, the base charge and taxes eat up quite a bit. So if I could go without any electricity use, I would still still owe 'the man'.

Hi, sorry to see you leave and hope to see you back, crunching again, you will be missed.

OUT OF TOPIC.
Yesterday night, I blown 3x 35Amp(slow) fuses and had to wait for the electrical company to replace the sealed cabinet, which was so hot, that the checked what could be wrong, they made a terrible mistake, all the (wall)outleds, are on one of the 3x240/390V!. This has to be spread across the 3 fases. Just plain stupid, I told him, but they are not planning on changing that.
Atleast, I know now how to open, without breaking the seal, the fuse cabinet :)
so I can change them myself, if necessary!

I could use a little cutting back myself...

Tough thing is it's getting winter and I need the heat...

Well maybe not so much.

I have 4 pc's running at home. I see less than $10-$20 difference from the times I ran no PC and all at once. There are easier ways to save money in ones life. DOn't get your morning starbucks @$4.00+ a day that will save most people a great deal of money a month. Stop smoking $3.50+ a pack... big savings. You may wind up screaming for a few weeks from withdrawl symptoms. Just remember you are saving money. Rin more PC's throughout your home during the cooler months of the year. Nothing says home than a room heated by several Pc's. PLus the PC's provide that nifty white noise so you can drift off to a toasty warm nights sleep.

If you are using a CRT or even LCD, turn it off when not in use. Those bugger are a waste of electricity when they aren't in actual use.
