Downloaded and installed at home. I like it! As Misfit said, a lot of add-on's not working yet. But hopefully they will eventually.

All of the add-ons (plugins) that I use work fine.

For the ones that don't have official 3.0 support, you can try this:

Download the XPI file (this is a zip file) and edit the enclosed INSTALL.RDF text file. Look for the "<em:maxVersion></em:maxVersion>" line and change the number to "3.0.*" or higher.

Then drag your newly updated XPI file to the Firefox add-on window to install it.

Of course, if you break it, you own both parts.

I don't use AdBlock, but NoScript blocks virtually all advertisements by blocking the script that runs them.

Thanks for the tip Ned, I'll try it sometime this week with some of the ones that I have that aren't 3.0 compatable.

Why didn't I think of that?

I've been using FireFox 3 for the last week or so. It won't fail you & the addons that don't work will be fixed to work in it.

Excellent program. Downloaded it yesterday again to achieve their goal of a Guinness book of World record in downloads!

Most of the extensions i like are update for FF3...More will be updated soon.

With Firefox 3 there is a very noticeable increase in speed...Which is good for me...'cause i hate to wait.

Use FIREFOX for quite a while now and have version 3 downloaded and installed, almost the German version,Hit Me ;^), only my FREE AVG-Virusscanner works partly, because they haven't an [i]update for FF3 ?
Gonna try Mc Afee, as I've 1 licence to go .Hard to obtain a 64BIT AV program, for WIN XP64.
Tried a few, but they aren't compatible . . .

If anybody knows a good 64BIT A-V-Program, i'm all ears/eye ?

The AVG anti-virus download scan still works with FF3...You may be referring to the AVG toolbar which is not yet compatible with FF3.

I don't use the AVG Toolbar...slows things down.

As for FF3--I'll wait a lil while longer for the bugs to shake out

I just downloaded FireFox 3. Its just OK, nothing special. They added a few new looking buttons but it seems like nothing has changed.

I used FireFox for a while, but i quit for several reasons.

One of the main reasons was i could not get an add-on to display windows media player on the msn.com website. I spent 3 days messing and quit in the end. The media player was on MY WEBSITE. If i cannot see my own music player, well....

The other main reason i don't like FireFox is the way it displays text!!. I just don't like the "Hard" looking way text is displayed compared to Internet Explorer. So i took some screen shots for a comparison test. See what you think!!

The image is cut from the front page here on SETI;

The FireFox screen shot;

The Internet Explorer screen shot;

Just look at the difference in the way the text is displayed. In Internet Explorer, the text is much smoother!!

{EDIT}
I done the same shot using Opera and Safari browsers. Neither of them have the "Hard Text" thing that is in FireFox.

Opera screen shot;

Safari screen shot;

I done a better example of a close up screen shot with the 4 browsers so we could see which ones have the best looking text.
FireFox

Opera

Internet Explorer

Safari

FireFox and Opera have the "Hard scraggy text" look.

IE has the soft text. Safari has the soft text but it looks "Bolder" than IE.

{EDIT}

I still think the text looks better in IE.

I don't know, but I think the Firefox one looks sharper by a hair. I guess it's a matter of opinion, but the sharpness factor is important to me.

Daniel,
If you have firefox and IE, here is a very good example website that will have this video problem; http://edil77.spaces.live.com/, its not my site. But that website has an embedded "Windows media player" on the right hand side, just a small bit down the front page. View the site in IE, then view the website with firefox. The media player should start playing music and video automatically.

In firefox, you cannot see the media player!!, even with firefox 3 the problem is still there!

I spent about 6 or 7 hours at this over 3 days. It does not work.

I see what you mean Johnney...I've seen WMP work on other sites...but it did not work there at all...In fact like you i couldn't see it either...The site is hosted on Microsoft's own Live platform...So that may have something to do with it.
