Several saw what she posted, and, as Sarge said, it was, by implication, kid unfriendly.

... SNIP...

I am sorry she was banned. Her post was not that much over the line.

nota bene This thread will probably be hidden as it is dicsussing moderator action, and certainly this post is.

I am discussing what a fellow member did to get banned not the specific actions of a moderator.

Moderation as a "general" topic is an open subject.

I didn't see her last posts so can not comment about her behaiviour.

I still don't know what "kid unfriendly" means on these boards.

I just wish we did not have to loose fellow posters this way.

Last month, I started a thread on a forum which to me, was polite, requesting info on an o/s matter. On my next visit to the forum, I saw that my thread was closed. On reading the closure post, I was well P****d as I thought it totally ridiculous. I logged off the site straight away.

After several hours, I logged back on & re-read my post. On thinking about it, I realised that it was ambiguous & posted a reply to the FORUM MANAGER who had closed the thread, explaining what I requested. Matter resolved.

The point being made: -

That forum had Moderators, Forum Managers, & Administrators. As the forum is 24/7, any problems crop up & the thread is instantly closed.

I have yet to see Administrators or forum Managers on this site.

I feel that THEY ARE NEEDED!!!

See the Technical News Forum for admin presence. Remember, the admins are the very scientists behind SETI and, if I have understood correctly, much of BOINC.

(P.S. - as for 24/7, at the time kenzieB requested her thread be closed and before she blew up, one that could have handled the situation ... well, CC ... Denny's Restaurant ... Flash Chat ignore messages. Thanks for all that, since, of course, kenzie's matter did eventually got resolved.)

Farewell KenzieB...follow your heart...

Interesting. Follow Your Heart is the name of a song by a Canadian band.

It is simply a song, Mike. I posted it only because of the phrase Dennis used.

Just like many others, she's said she wasn't going to be back before... And then she came back. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Maybe. Useless to speculate? Also, to John C., no, I don't think she was looking for excuses to move to other projects (I thought Dune told us she'd uninstalled BOINC?) nor planned for some time to go out with a bang.

Probably.

If she doesn't come back, she stands behind her convictions. If she does, it was just more empty rhetoric.

Kinda like most of this thread.

I was referring to an early July PM she sent me, indicating she was likely to go over to other BOINC projects.

Dune's information takes my comment even further, and well beyond that.

She is unlikely to ever return, for her own reasons.

I think this is much more than empty rhetoric, as Rush speculates!

If someone breaks the posting rules, they may get banned. The decision is not made by moderators but by admin.

If someone does things purposely that they know are against the rules, they are much more likely to get banned.

If someone chooses to stay away after purposely breaking rules and being banned for it, then that is their decision and it should be respected. Calls by others to un-ban such a person are pointless.

Or perhaps like many people here Mac just felt upset.

People do that and say many things they don't really mean.

I am one of those people who on occasion was so angry I wanted to go away from this forum forever but I faced my foolishness and stayed.

Personally I think it is a good sign of character when someone can mess up or be messed upon yet they come back to face the music.

It makes us stronger.

It makes us a family.

As to empty rhetoric: The fact I like Mac being around is not empty rhetoric at all (unless you think I'm lying.) It was and is well meant.

Everyone gets emotional at times. If they did not value something they would not care.
