Apparently I have just started a brothel.

Sure looks that way.

So, which blonde do you want, Labbie?
If I were you, I'd say neither.

I don't think I'd take any of the five.

You people need to wake up...This was settled days ago. I get the middle one. And I'm standing firm on this.

Thanks for the sincere good wishes from those of you, who know which they are.

I feel sorry for those who are willing to just let things happen (or rather fail to happen in the name of patience). Some other so called replies to this thread just are not worth commenting on. The connection with brothels is just too tenuous for me to comprehend.

My reason for loss of enthusiasm stems from the 10th August 2005 issue, when numerous "Ghost Results" were created, presumably at an outage similar to the one we've just experienced. I am convinced that the 500,000 odd "Results in Progress" shown in the SETI Server Status were pretty well exclusively the remainder of these Ghost Results. It was, in my view (for what that is worth), not a good policy, to say the least, to continue sending out further results for crunching until these had been eliminated. The last straw for me was the "new results" arriving at this end as further "Ghosts". That was without exception, and not just occasionally. How SETI can commence sending out these "new results", without making sure that they are being received intact for crunching at the other end, just beggars belief. After receiving about 60 of these as Ghosts and detaching/re-attaching about 10 times, my patience ran out. It was the same problem with both 5.9.10 and with 5.8.x, and it seemed that the SETI server was just not sending any data whatsoever after acknowledging that it was about to do so for downloads. And 2 hours waiting for a 300kb file to get downloaded (still showing 0% progress) is just ludicrous. Having been in this situation for almost a full day, the Server should have been closed for business with just an apology and notice of explanation for any attempted downloads.

I don't know if this message will get through. I'm answering from an emailed notice telling me that the thread has been stopped by a moderator. I have now detached all my SETI@home clients, as all 4 were just simply wasting their time.

I am now just running ClimatePrediction on my MacBookPro. I was not so much disappointed by not being also able to run this on the other 3 computers, but more by the off-handed way that, with no warning or explanation, the download was perpetually delayed 24 hours from day to day. It did remind me of the lack of information experienced with SETI in the past, now somewhat remedied by Matt's welcomed regular Technical Reports.

Good Luck to all you tenacious continuing hopefully crunchers-to-be.
I admire your patience, all of you, even if it be blind faith.

Keith:

The bit about the "brothel" was a brief joke that built around someone suggesting she'd let you spend time with some cute girls if only you'd stay. Laugh at it or be disgusted by it, but, of course, the brief conversation it generated was off-topic.

Regarding August 10, 2005, I had switched from Classic to BOINC by then, but I am not aware of the outage to which you're referring. However, I think that your concerns, as do the concerns of others, stem from looking too closely at the tasks under your manager, worrying about credit and RAC. Am I on the right track?

I also am having trouble downloading a new WU that shows up in my task and transfer tabs. Again, why is it such a problem, though?

I would say the only thing we should be concerned about is analysis of the resulting crunched WUs we send back.

Last, obviously, your thread has not been closed. Since some of us took it off-topic for a bit, maybe it was in danger of it, but apparently the danger has passed. I suspect the off-topic stuff was the only thing that would have made a moderator consider closing the thread.
Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes.

All of them are "of age" now... I think they have been for a few years. Not sure when the pic below was taken.

The one on your left, with the phone up to her ear, is "NextDoorNikki". Misfit should be happy to know that she was topless on an uncensored version of Springer within the past year...

...and Google images did the rest.

Yeah, well, I'm not big on all of the tatoos... Not terribly big on the piercings either ("navel fluff", as it was called), although the piercings are far less "permanent".

At any rate, my ex-gf's friend looked somewhat like the girl in the middle (MeganQT), and I foolishly thought that I might be able to strike up a friendship/relationship with someone that looks like the one to her left (TiffanyTeen). Her name was Angela (the girl here locally, not the girl in the picture). She was like 22 or 23 and after what all (or nearly all) American girls that age are after; "hot boys", which I am decidedly not... Of course, this left me with more money to spend on myself, so it was a win for me, I think... LOL

Have more fun on the google searches again now... I know you're going to do it... ;-)

Edit: After further thought, I need to clarify... "hot boys" or other "hot girls"... Amazing how that has gained popularity since I was in high school / first shot at college. Also, there certainly is something in the water, because I don't recall seeing anything like them then.... LOL

OOOoooooooo....Girls in short shorts! Now this is a thread!
This is the kinda thing this place needs! Something to brighten a man's day!
Now, I'm not insensitive. There should be a thread with guys in short shorts too, for the ladies. Nothing to risque or over exposed. Just some eye candy!
Huh?
Oh Yeah! See ya, Kevin.
Take care.
