Know Thy Enemy: Canada Have no fear Chris. We're thick skinned up here. People are often jealous of places that are clean, sane (mostly) and respectful of others (except the Yanks, the DO get up our nose sometimes). |

I've been busy since I got home from my lunch meeting with my brother, I bought Völkerball with Rammstein, a concert dvd/cd, and I have been playing with ripping the dvd to my external harddrive for my iPod. I bought and downloaded a program for doing this, and it has been quite tricky, but I'm learning. :-) Ripping 2 hours and 15 minutes of video takes it's time, and I look very much forward to see the result. They are reformatted to mpeg4 format, so they can be played on the iPod, so now I can see the videos while being out. I'll see how it turns out, then I'll rip a few other music dvd's I have, and even rip some movies. Even watching The Lord of the Rings might be a little inadequate on that little screen, but it's good to have when I'm going somewhere for a holiday. Figuring out BitTorrent and all the peripheral apps and players needed. You can download alot of stuff already formatted for your Ipod thru BT. Some stuff is a little confusing, but if a newbie like me can figure it out..... Here's a link TorrentPortal Let me know what ya think. |

Uh, those will take forever to download with my little connection. When you think of that a 5 minute video is on 108,000 kb. I found this program which looked ok (I had downloaded 3 trials before that, and I wasn't happy with them), and I bought a registration key for it, so I'm playing with it now. I have spent a lot of time figuring out how I want it, and there's 4 concerts on the dvd, where I had ripped the one from Japan (about 11 minutes) and 3/4 of the part from the concert in France (1 hour and 42 minutes), when I found out that they were ripped to one file each. And as I want them as one file per song, I aborted the ripping and now I have started to rip each song and name them, so I can see the titles and also play them at a time. I have tried to add them to the iTunes library and they are transfered fine to my iPod, so this is what I'll do. It will take a lot of time, but it's worth the time to get it how I want it. I'll continue this tomorrow. I have now the first 5 files ready, and there's about 25 - 28 to go. Again, it's worth while to get it right from the beginning. As I said, I'm playing with the program, how it work, and what possibilities I have. Then I can rip the next music dvd I have, The Last Waltz with The Band, and if I bother, I can rip some of the movies I have. If I bother... BitTorrent reminds me of the old Napster app...it's just that I don't want to be served by a court order that I'm getting sued by the RIAA, or getting a knock on my door late at night by the copyright police (FBI in America). Then you got all the nasty little issues with P2P...i.e. sharing malware, etc. Account frozen... |

BitTorrent reminds me of the old Napster app...it's just that I don't want I was worried too, but then I read this on the main page of TorrentPortal: "Unless you live in Canada, downloading copyrighted material via P2P may put you at risk for a lawsuit. Canadian users are currently shielded from P2P lawsuits. Canada signed the 1997 World Intellectual Property Organization Internet Treaties, but has not yet ratified them by enacting their provisions into domestic law. Recently there has been class-action suits filed against users who copy and distribute copyrighted material without regard for the law. The MPAA, RIAA and the governments of both England and Australia have taken several thousand users to court demanding thousands of dollars. Your ISP may, on their own judgment, give their logs of your downloading activity to those who request it. In those situations, the more you download and share, the more risk you put yourself at." WOOOOHOOOOO!!!! OH CANADA, WE STAND ON GAURD FOR THEE.. |

yo waddup? Well, I have now ripped the whole Völkerball dvd to my iPod in the way I wanted it, so I can see each song separately and still be able to see them all as a whole unbroken concert. Yay! Some less good news is that I broke my Last Waltz dvd. I was taking it out of the cassette, one of where you're supposed to press on the center to pop the dvd out, which I didn't do, and then CRACK! and the dvd was broke. I'll have to go and buy a new one. :-( But I'll look into ripping a movie to see how it works. "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

Wandering dog helps woman in accident February 3, 2007 THOMASVILLE, Ga. – A south Georgia woman bloodied in a car wreck says she owes her life to a German shepherd who – thankfully – wouldn't stay in his yard. Shannon Lorio said that after her car careened down an embankment, the wayward dog found her, battered, on the vehicle's trunk and dragged her by her shirt collar 50 yards through briars to a highway and let her lean against him so she could flag a passing motorist. His new name: Hero. “That dog is always going to have a special place in my heart,†Lorio said yesterday. Hero's previous owners have signed him over to the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society since the Jan. 26 accident because he kept wandering off. He won't be in the shelter long: At least 50 people have offered to adopt him, and a dog trainer has agreed to see if he has the right stuff for search-and-rescue work. –Associated Press me@rescam.org |

hewwo Doc, I deeply regret if my comment to you about this pic has offended you, this was not my intention. I don't watch so many science fictions, as least not as many as you do, so I have no idea of who or which your picture is depicting. And since you like to use pictures like this, both in your postings and in your avatars, my question to you was meant as a joke. I'm sorry you didn't get it. But some of your avatars do have a resemblance to this picture. But maybe you would share with us who the character is on the picture, where it comes from, and what part does this character play in these? This would be helpful. Thank you.
