Ladies and Gentlemen...you are getting very close to the personal limit...contemplating a deletion. If BrainSmashR feels personally
attacked I am going to have to take action. He's BrainSmashR, and not BS.
If deletion is necessary, this post will go too.

Does this mean I can't be "RTP"? (It's only one step away from Stp, Stone Temple Pilots!)

Security on airlines would dramatically improve if everyone was forced to fly naked.

... and people on the plane would be too preoccupied with their own nakedness to worry about a mother feeding her child.

BTW, the suggestion was first made in Brian Unger's satirical Unger Report (NPR).

What is indecent about this, much less obscene, whether in public or private?

Indecent and obscene are not synonymous. They cannot be interchanged without changing the entire meaning of the sentence. What's "indecent" about exposing a breast on an airplane is specifically that it's a body part which is normally covered in that particular situation. It would not be indecent in a bathroom, in your home, or on a nude beach because one would expect to see exposed body parts in those locations which would otherwise be covered in a different setting.

I'm not sure he realizes that plans cannot be dropped because of a hungry baby. Run off to do something as a social outcast to do something that is completely natural.

She didn't have to do anything of the sort. I doubt all baby formula's are on the banned liquids list, AND she was offered a blanket which would have solved the problem before it ever started.

Sorry guys, I'm totally not religious, but I DO believe humans are better than all the other animals on the planet combined. In my opinion this isn't any different than monkeys flinging poo at each other or dog's sniffing each other's butts. Humans are better than that.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Greetings,

Has it occured to you yet, that this thread is now moot? You keep arguing for arguements sake. You have not added anything new to this "discussion". You reiterate your opinions over and over and you have not persuaded anyone else to change theirs. My suggestion would be to drop this "discussion". Until next I visit.... (-:<

Well, next Tuesday, I shall be travelling to Istanbul.
I shall be sitting alongside:

I could care less if she started to breast feed.

To grab the topic once again:
Boooo I can't understand those American Pseudo-Puritans - making such a fuss about a mother exposing her breast to feed her baby when and where he or she needs it.
Breast-feeding is the most natural thing between a mother and her child I can imagine. Why can anyone nowadays feel offended by that - and even try to stipulate that she has to cover "the act" of breast-feeding??? There is nothing sexual about it, imho it's just bigotry to make this a problem.

99.9% of us "Americans" are saying the same thing and we have covered this topic to no end...Twice Over. Now we Americans will be attacked because there is nothing else to say.

Having followed the links Misfit provided earlier, and a couple others from the same place, I would say in some instances the breast was not as well concealed by the baby's head as Es would suggest.

On the other hand, I cannot even recall for sure ever viewing any woman breastfeeding. So, that either says I have not viewed any public breastfeeding, or if I have, it is not as indecent as BS suggests.

As for myself I have been in or through about 50 different countries and open breast feeding is the norm in many, especially in Africa and Asia.

Well having done and seen a lot of breastfeeding in public..including on planes to the US..I can assure you there is nothing indecent about it, and I think I am more qualified to make that statement than the majority of posters in this thread ;-)

Go to any cafe here during the day and you will see mothers with their babies having coffee while they breastfeed their babies. No one bats an eyelid
